Sit-A-Pet's founder, Debra Hollander, has a love for animals that led her to an innovative concept: to care for pets in their own home while their owners are traveling. Because at the time there were no similar services in existence, she was unsure whether pet owners would warm to her concept. Not surprisingly, they loved it! Sit-A-Pet's first client - in 1980 - lived on Capitol Hill. Word spread rapidly and, along with grass roots advertising, the business grew to the enterprise it is today, serving parts of Washington, Virginia, and Maryland.
