In 1999, St. Vincent de Paul Community Pharmacy of Charlotte County Inc. was founded by Dr. Thomas F. Ferrara. The pharmacy was an outgrowth of Dr. Ferrara's volunteer work with Punta Gorda's Sacred Heart Church conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, of which he was president. Dr. Ferrara saw the nonprofit Community Pharmacy as a necessity in Charlotte County, Florida... Patients are screened for eligibility for our semi-urgent medical and pharmacy services. We serve residents of Charlotte County, FL, who are 18 years of age and older and who do not have health insurance... We promote, encourage and support healthy lifestyles and self-care with all our patients. Programs, workshops and educational materials address weight loss, smoking cessation, diabetes management, breast health and stress reduction.
