ROCK CREEK DERMATOLOGY - Key Persons

Meghan Thomas Mitchell, MD, FAAD is a board certified dermatologist. She graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina State University with a degree in Engineering. Dr. Mitchell served in the Navy teaching the basics of reactor physics to sailors. She then pursued her lifelong dream of a career in medicine. Returning to her hometown of Chapel Hill, NC, she earned her M.D. at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Mitchell completed her dermatology residency at the University of North Carolina Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident. Following residency, she and her family moved to the metro area, where she initially practiced with a local dermatology group before starting Rock Creek Dermatology. Dr. Mitchell considers herself fortunate to have her own practice where she can provide excellent, compassionate dermatology care for the community. In her free time, Dr. Mitchell shuttles kids to sports practices, enjoys audiobooks and cooking. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Women's Dermatologic Society and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Meghan Mitchell sees patients at both the Silver Spring and Urbana locations.

Patrick Whitman, PA-C was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA before coming to the east coast for undergrad at American University. He later received both his Master of Health Sciences and Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from Duke University's Physician Assistant Program. Patrick has been certified by the National Board on Certification of Physician Assistants since 2019 and has practiced in orthopedic surgery and primary care before settling into dermatology in 2022. Patrick specializes in skin cancer screenings and acne treatments because he has a personal and familial history of skin cancer and had severe acne growing up, making skin care a personal calling for him. He lives in Frederick County, MD with his wife and daughter. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, baking, and watching sports. He looks forward to getting to know you and caring for you and your family.
