CHERRY TRIVIA

Tart cherries and tart cherry juice are known to reduce the urate levels in the body. These are also known to reduce muscle pain and back pain. The benefits of tart cherries are also found even if they are frozen, in the form of juice or canned. Sweet cherries as well as tart cherries have very high levels of anthocyanins. This is the red pigment in the cherries, which helps to reduce the inflammation. Cherry blossoms serve as a visual reminder of how precious and how precarious life is. Cherries are drupes, or stone fruits, related to plums and more distantly to peaches and nectarines. They have been enjoyed since the Stone Age - pits were found in several Stone Age caves in Europe. The Romans carried cherries throughout Europe and England along the routes of conquest. Studies have shown the cherry fruit to have plenty of health benefits. These are known to provide pain relief for people who suffer from arthritis. It is said that eating 20 tart cherries in a day can prove to fight inflammation effectively. In Japanese culture the cherry blossom represents a few different things: symbol of life, symbol of hope and a symbol of humility. In some buddhist cultures, the cherry blossom can be seen as a symbol of wisdom. Red cherries are also very high in melatonin. These are known to destroy the toxins that cause diseases. The cherry fruit is also high in antioxidants that help to fight cancer and heart disease. The cherry tree is the most widely planted ornamental tree in the United States. In 1912, the people of Japan sent 3,020 cherry trees to the United States as a gift of friendship. CHERRY TRIVIA In Chinese culture the cherry blossom is considered a symbol of love.

Dr. Ali Etemad

Dr. Ali Etemad completed his undergraduate studies at Seattle University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He attained his DDS degree from The University of Washington School of Dentistry. Dr. Etemad received his Masters of Science degree and his Endodontics Specialty Certificate from The University of Michigan. Dr. Etemad is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, American Equilibration Society, and the Seattle King County Dental Society. He is an affiliate associate professor at The University of Washington School of Dentistry. Dr. Etemad enjoys spending time cycling and skiing.

Dr. Avisha Shah

Dr. Avisha Shah completed her dental degree at YMT Dental College and Hospital in Mumbai, India. She then came to the United States, where she did a two-year advanced clinical training program in endodontics at UCLA School of Dentistry. She received her Masters of Science degree in Oral Biology and her Endodontics Specialty Certificate from UCLA School of Dentistry. She is a member of the American Association of Endodontics. Dr. Shah enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and skiing.

Kristina joined the Pacific Endodontics team in 2006, but her roots in dentistry started way back in her own country where she earned her DDS degree from The University of Mother Teresa, School of Dentistry. She worked as a general dentist for 6 years in a private clinic in Athens, Greece. She is a member of the American Association of Endodontists. After moving to the USA, Kristina continues to love working with patients but her biggest goal in life is to be for ever best friends with her two beautiful girls.
