An active and close family, the Lee's and their two sons, Corey and Cameron, were classmates of some of the Hoban children through Immaculate Conception Grade School in Everett. On December 8, 2015, the Lee's tragically lost their oldest son, Corey, to an accidental overdose while at Eastern Washington University, where he was just beginning his dream and an active member of a fraternity. Since then, the Lee's have become more outspoken about the drug epidemic and more specifically trying to change the stigma of addiction and recovery by telling their story. That has led Cathi to team up with Snohomish County, the City of Everett and Snohomish County Health District to put on an annual International Overdose Awareness Candlelight Vigil. She continues to look for ways to serve youth and families dealing with addiction, including through the Pivot Point Project.
