Leoni McFarlane is the Operations Manager at The Marine. She joined The Marine with 25 years' experience in the 5-star hospitality industry, the last 15 at The Royal Portfolio where she held various positions ranging from Personal Assistant to the owner, to Front Office, Events Co-Ordinator, Executive Housekeeper, and HR Manager at La Residence in Franschhoek and Birkenhead House in Hermanus. She loves teamwork and leading by example, working hands-on with staff in every department. At The Marine she oversees all aspects of the Food and Beverage department, as well as all day-to-day operations when standing in for the General Manager and Assistant General Manager.

Michel Bouic

Michel Bouic heads up the team at The Marine Hotel as General Manager. Born into a French Mauritian family with a professional chef as father, hosting and entertaining came naturally to Michel as he developed a keen interest in the hospitality industry from an early age. He studied at the International Hotel School and spent the first two years of his career as Hospitality Trainee at The Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa in Cape Town. Staying within the Red Carnation Collection, he completed his training at the award-winning Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Retreat in the Cederberg, followed by his first professional appointment there as Assistant Front Office Manager. Over the past 15 years Michel had developed a solid track record in the luxury hospitality industry and acquired invaluable knowledge and experience, including a passion and appreciation for food, wine and service excellence. At Bushmans Kloof he steadily climbed the career ladder, holding various management positions that ranged from Food & Beverage, and Operations, to Private Villa Manager. This led to his promotion as Deputy General Manager, a position he held for three years. During that time, he further honed his managements skills, achieving much success in enhancing the luxury guest experience by means of motivating and inspiring his team to reach even greater heights. Michel and his family relocated to Hermanus in November 2022, where he took up the position of General Manager of The Marine Hotel.

Neville Mlaba

Neville Mlaba has joined The Marine as Front Office Manager. He brings with him 11 years of experience in the hospitality industry, most recently gained at Hotel Sky in Cape Town where he was Assistant Front Office Manager for two years. His career first started at Cape Town Hollow Hotel where he worked in various departments over five years within the group. He then moved to Palala Boutique Game Lodge & Spa, before joining the opening team at the Holiday Inn Cape Town and later, the rebranded Cresta Grande Hotel. With an ‘always winning attitude' he takes pride in all tasks, illustrating his passion and dedication to his work.
