ICPR

The Institute for Crime & Justice Policy Research (ICPR) (formerly the Institute for Criminal Policy Research) was established by Professor Mike Hough in 2003, as the successor body to South Bank University's Criminal Policy Research Unit. Since 2010, ICPR has been based at Birkbeck, University of London, which is a centre of world-class legal research and scholarship. Professor Jessica Jacobson took over the directorship in 2013 until February 2025. ICPR is directed by Professor Mai Sato, and has a staff comprising Research Fellows and Senior Research Fellows, and a number of academic visitors.
