Scott Learned

Job Titles:
  • Owner
Attorney Scott Learned, a Boise native, has a unique background that makes him well-suited for advising and educating clients about their estate planning and probate needs. After graduating from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. in 2001, Scott worked for a Boise insurance defense firm as a litigator for over five years. However, Scott found little satisfaction representing giant corporations and insurance companies. So he burned out and quit the practice of law in 2006. Instead, Scott spent five years teaching high school math, physics, and theater (all subjects he has studied over the years). In 2011, ready to give the law another chance, Scott opened Learned Lawyer. He was intent on working with families and small business owners to solve problems that really matter to them. Scott's diverse background, as experienced attorney and teacher, helps him educate his clients on their options and communicate with clients about their goals, values, questions, and concerns. Scott loves to counsel his clients, to make sure that each plan is carefully tailored to each client's needs, and to make sure his clients understand how their plans work. Scott is passionate about making sure his clients receive personal attention and quality results. He is committed to making sure that his clients have a plan for the future, no matter what might happen, and that their loved ones are protected even if the worst comes to pass. Scott hopes that each of his clients fully understand their available options, is an active participant in the design of their estate plan or the handling of their probate matter, and feels peace of mind throughout the entire process. In addition to his legal work, Scott teaches Wills, Trusts, and Estates as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Idaho College of Law. Scott also plays drums and sings, trains for triathlons, skis, backpacks, and spends time with his family - especially his wife, Stephanie, and his three kids. Scott is a member of the Boise Estate Planning Council, Past-President of the Rotary Club of Boise, the current District Learning Facilitator for Rotary District 5400, and a past Chair of the Small Business Advisory Council of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce. Scott was awarded the 2020 Leaders in Law award from the Idaho Business Review.
