COUNCIL

The Council was founded in 1987 by a group of local business leaders in an ef fort to provide strong leadership relating to the social and economic health of our community. A report funded by the Council in the mid 90's identified three areas of focus necessary to ensure a strong community; economic development, infrastructure development and human development. Through this process, the San Joaquin Partnership was formed to address economic development and the San Joaquin Council of Governments was tasked with the responsibility of overseeing infrastructure development in our region. Human development became the responsibility of the Business Council. Over the years, our emphasis has been on education, public safety, transportation, and water.
