Central Illinois Poultry Processing began in 1995. Andy and Viola Jess began custom poultry processing on their farm three miles south of Arthur, Illinois. The business expanded gradually. Today, CIPP employs approximately 25 employees. We process an average of 2500 chickens a day. We are still located on the property the business began on. Andy's son, Paul, is our competent plant manager...
Our slaughter plant is inspected daily by USDA. A semi-automated line carries the birds to various workstations. We humanely slaughter using a stun knife. After the birds are completely cleaned, they are placed in water-chilled tanks to cool until they are below 38 degrees F. We vacuum package our poultry products in shrink bags. The product then goes to our cooler or freezer depending on the customer's need.
