Abigail graduated from Newcastle University in 2023 with a Bachelor of Laws with Placement Year Degree, having spent a year working as a Finance Paralegal at Clifford Chance LLP.
Despite working previously in Finance, Abigail has always been interested in pursuing a career in Criminal Law and, as such, tailored her degree to include modules such as: Evidence Law, Forensic Criminology, Anti-Terrorism/Terrorism Law and Medical Law (and its implications on Criminal cases), to name a few. Abigail additionally focused her undergraduate dissertation on the need to reform the offence of Child Destruction, in relation to third party violence inflicted onto those who are pregnant.
Abigail furthered her interest in Criminal Law through undertaking numerous mini-pupillages in Crime and has extensive Mooting and Advocacy experience, dealing with fictitious Criminal matters.
Having joined Russell & Russell Solicitors as a Criminal Defence Paralegal, where she now works at our Head Office in Bolton, Abigail deals with all manner of Criminal matters; including Police Station, Magistrates' Court and Crown Court work. She is also currently in the process of completing her Police Station Accreditation and is working towards qualifying as a Solicitor via the SQE route.
Outside of work, Abigail enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Ian has been with the firm for many years and is a Crown Court Fee Earner and Accredited Police Station Representative.
Ian joined Russell & Russell in April 2002, having studied law at Newcastle University. He is responsible for a large number of cases in the Crown Court and is a fully accredited police station representative. He has dealt with a number of high profile cases and a large amount of offences under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
His work has also extended to prison law and has carried out a number of successful parole applications as well as adjudications.
Notable cases dealt with by Ian include:
Adam is an equity partner in the criminal defence department, working out of Russell & Russell's Bolton and Blackpool offices. He joined the practice in 1997 and is a qualified Solicitor with a LLB Law degree. In his role, Adam is responsible for all aspects of criminal law and also specialises in licensing.
Outside work Adam is a member of a number of local sports clubs and enjoys skiing and travelling.

Ahsan joined Russell & Russell as a Solicitor based at our Head Office in December 2023. He previously worked in Gorvins Solicitors as a paralegal and then GD Property Solicitors as a trainee Solicitor. Qualifying in February 2023, Ahsan has practised exclusively in residential conveyancing throughout his career.

Amanda joined Russell & Russell in 1990 as a trainee Solicitor, qualifying in 1992. She is now a Consultant Solicitor working from the firm's Newport Street office.
She found her niche early on within family law and developed a reputation for providing excellent client care and a solution based ethos. Committed to providing sound legal advice, Amanda became an accredited Resolution member in 2001 for private law children work and advocacy showing a specialism in these areas.
In 2004 Amanda was made a member of the Law Society Children Panel showing her experience and experience in representing children within care proceedings.
This commitment to excellence saw Amanda become a junior partner in 1997 and then take over as head of the department in 2000. Since then, the family department has grown considerably.
In 2022 Amanda stepped down from her role as Head of Department and is now in a part time consultancy role, assisting the new Head of Department.
Amy left the BPP Law School (Manchester) with a law degree in 2014. She continued her education with an LPC and LLM at University of Law (Manchester), graduating in November 2016. Following her legal training, she qualified as a solicitor in 2018.
She works from Russell & Russell's head office in Bolton within the conveyancing department. Specifically, she works in the commercial property team, dealing with remortgages, sales, purchases and commercial buy to let properties on behalf of lenders.
In her spare time Amy likes to go to the gym, read crime fiction novels and socialise with family and friends.
Anthony originally joined Russell & Russell in 2016 and, after a short break, returned in 2020 working from our Bolton head office. Anthony has a wide range of experience dealing with all aspects of residential property transactions.
Anthony is currently working towards completing the CILEX Professional Qualification framework, with the intention to further expand his studies and qualify as a Solicitor via the SQE route.
Outside of work Anthony loves attending various live sporting events and spending time with his friends and family.
Bismah graduated in 2020 from The University of Manchester with an undergraduate degree in LLB Law and subsequently completed her post-graduate Masters in LLM Law from The University of Manchester. She attended The University of Law to study for the Solicitors Qualifying Exams (SQE) and successively qualified as a solicitor in 2024.
Bismah is based at our Head Office and covers all aspects of residential conveyancing, including sales, purchases, flats and re-mortgages.
Outside of work Bismah enjoys to travel to different countries and explore new cultures and cuisines. In her spare time she enjoys reading books and socialising with friends.
Catherine graduated with a BA (Hons) in Law with Business from the University of Central Lancashire in 2003 and went on to perform a variety of conveyancing roles.
Catherine joined Russell & Russell in November 2019. Working as a conveyancer at the firm's Bolton head office, her remit involves writing and delivering training as well as covering colleagues caseloads when they're on annual leave.
Outside of work, Catherine likes to go walking with her husband and son as well as losing herself in the latest Bill Bryson novel. In the summer she enjoys travelling in western Europe with her family.

David obtained his degree at Queens University, Belfast in 2008, before completing his LPC training at the College of Law in Chester in 2009. He qualified as a Solicitor 2013.
Working from our Bolton head office, David specialises in all aspects of residential property, dealing with sales, purchases, auction properties, new builds, shared ownership and lease extensions.
In his spare time David is an avid Bury FC supporter and enjoys participating in, and watching, various sports. He's also a keen gardener and cook, but likes nothing better than walking his border collie.

Davinia is a member of our specialist Child Care Department covering cases across a variety of local authorities, acting for parties in all regards, from local authorities to parents
Eddie graduated from the University of Hull in 2014 with a Masters degree in History and Historical Research, before completing the GDL conversion course and LPC at the University of Law (Leeds) in 2017.
Having worked as a paralegal elsewhere in Greater Manchester, Eddie was pleased to join Russell & Russell in 2019 as a Trainee, qualifying as a Solicitor in November 2022. Eddie works in the conveyancing department at head office, and has experience in all aspects of residential conveyancing.
In his spare time, Eddie enjoys watching sports, cooking and socialising with friends and family.
Ellie holds a first class BSc in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry from The University of Manchester, graduating top of her year within organic chemistry, and has achieved a distinction within her LLM in Law and Legal Practice course.
She joined Russell and Russell in 2023 as a paralegal specialising in care proceedings and works from the Newport Street office.
In her spare time, Ellie enjoys to travel and cook with friends. She is also learning Italian and hopes to be fluent in this one day.

Emma graduated from the University of Salford with an upper second class degree in LLB Law with honours in 2018. She then went on to study her Masters degree at the University of Law in Manchester along with her LPC course, which she is due to complete in 2021.
Emma joined Russell & Russell Solicitors in April 2021 as a paralegal in our Personal Injury Department, based at our Newport Street office. Emma hopes to complete a training contract and to qualify as a Solicitor in the future.
In the Personal Injury department Emma is dealing with all types of Personal Injury claims, including Accidents at work, Clinical Negligence, Road Traffic Accidents, Occupiers Liability and Public Liability claims.
Emma is an advocate for Pro Bono work and is passionate about assisting those in need. She won an award at University for her dedication in helping at Benefit Tribunals at the Manchester Civil Justice Centre in her free time; she continues to assist with Benefit Tribunals when she can. Emma volunteers at the National Centre for Domestic Violence; this is a free, fast emergency injunction service to survivors of domestic abuse and violence.
Outside of work, Emma's other passion aside from Law is Photography. She owns a photography studio in Bolton which specialises in child and wedding photography; she particularly adores photographing new born babies. Emma loves parrots and is a mum to Quaker Parrot Mario. When she isn't working Emma loves to travel the world. She has been to the Taj Mahal in India, and Chichen Itza in Mexico to name but a few. On the quiet weekends she loves nothing more than spending time with Mario and unwinding with a glass of wine.
Emma is an equity partner at our Horwich office, working in the wills and probate department. Having completed her Law degree in 2002, Emma went on to complete her LPC at Hudderfield University. She joined the practice in 2003 as trainee Solicitor and qualified 2006.
In 2015, Emma became a fully accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE), an independent organsiation of solicitors, barristers and chartered legal executives who provide specialist legal advice for older and vulnerable people, their families and carers. She has been a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) since 2017 and is also a governor for Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and a trustee for AGE UK Bolton.

Gail joined the practice in 1997 as an office junior, before moving up through the ranks to become a Paralegal at the firm's Farnworth office in 2012.

Gulrez graduated from Manchester University in 2011 with a degree in Marketing Management and, with a keen interest in law, he continued his education through the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx), having achieved a level 3 Diploma in Law and Practice. Gulrez is now working towards the level 6 Diploma in Law and Practice before taking the Solicitor Qualifying exams .

Harry graduated from the University of Huddersfield in 2020 gaining his LLB law degree and Master of Law and Practice. Having worked in Personal Injury Harry felt his long standing interest in Criminal Law was what he wanted to pursue. He had shadowed numerous Solicitors in West Yorkshire during his time at University and he has been fascinated with criminal justice ever since.
Harry is now expanding his legal knowledge with the wide variety of cases that come through the doors of Russell & Russell every day and is working towards his Police Accreditation qualification. He is currently involved with Police Station, Magistrates Court and Crown Court work
In his spare time Harry enjoys long distance swimming and watching rugby league
Howard is an equity partner and heads up the firm's criminal defence department in Chester. He graduated with a degree in 1989 from North Staffordshire Polytechnic (now Staffordshire University), before going on to complete his Law Society Finals at the College of Law York in 1990. He joined Russell & Russell on a training contract in 1990 and was admitted as a Solicitor in 1992.
Howard is an accredited police station representative and Duty Solicitor, representing suspects at the police station. He is also a Higher Court Advocate, enabling him to defend clients in both the Magistrates' and Crown Court.
In terms of other areas of criminal litigation, Howard represents clients charged with motoring and road traffic offences, private prosecutions from the DWP, RSPCA, LEA and the British Horse Racing Board. He also acts on behalf of those facing prosecution for more serious offences, including drug trafficking, murder, GBH, ABH, rape and sexual offences.
Outside of work he enjoys canoeing ,cricket and watching his own children play football and rugby. Originating from Stockport, he's a season card holder at Manchester City FC.
Humaira joined Russell and Russell in 2022, after completing her undergraduate law degree at the University of Law. Humaira completed her LPC MSc in 2023 alongside working and gaining experience in the commercial and residential property department at Russell and Russell.
Humaira now aims to progress her career by eventually completing a training contract as she aspires to become a fully qualified solicitor.
During her free time, Humaira enjoys travelling, spending time with her family and shopping.

Inaam joined Russell & Russell in 2022 and is a Trainee Solicitor in our Conveyancing Department, based at our Head Office and Middleton Office.
Inaam deals with all aspects of residential conveyancing.

Jamie studied at Leeds Beckett University graduating with a law degree in 2016, following which he studied for and completed his LPC and Masters degree in 2021.
