The Simons Foundation is based in New York City and currently has a staff of over 500 people, half of whom are scientists. Since 2021, David Spergel has served as the foundation's president... We understand science is part of society and culture, and we actively provide opportunities for people to engage with science in ways that are relevant and meaningful to them... The Mathematics and Physical Sciences (MPS) division, established in 2010, supports research in mathematics, theoretical physics and theoretical computer science, by providing funding for individuals, institutions, and science infrastructure.
