Alan R. Batkin was Vice Chairman of Eton Park Capital Management, L.P., a global, multi-disciplinary investment firm from March, 2007 to December, 2012. Prior to joining Eton Park, he was, from 1990 to 2007, Vice Chairman of Kissinger Associates, Inc., a geopolitical consulting company. Before joining Kissinger Associates, he was an investment banker at Lehman Brothers for 18 years. Mr. Batkin is on the Board of Directors of four US-based public companies. He is Senior Advisor to Discovery Group, a South Africa-based health insurance and financial services company as well as Senior Advisor to Oaktree Emerging Markets Opportunity Fund. Mr. Batkin is Chairman Emeritus of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and is currently Chair of Airbel, the IRC's research and development unit. Aletha Maybank

Aletha Maybank, MD, MPH '06, was named associate commissioner and director of the Center for Health Equity(link is external and opens in a new window) at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The Center for Health Equity is considered the foundation of the city health department's efforts to address health disparities, as mentioned in the mayor's management report. Prior to her new role, Maybank served as assistant commissioner of the Brooklyn District Public Health Office, where she oversaw the completion of several public health and safety programs such as new bike lanes, a doula initiative, promotion of breast-feeding, and HIV testing. Maybank also served as founding director of the Suffolk County Department of Health Services in New York and launched the Office of Minority Health, which focused on reducing health disparities in racial and ethnic minorities. Maybank's areas of expertise include preventive medicine, food and fitness, maternal and child health, cancer, HIV/AIDS, community health, and health inequities. She is a founding board member of the Artemis Medical Society, an international mentoring, networking, and advocacy organization of over 2,500 Black female physicians.

Dr. Linda P. Fried, MD, MPH, is a global leader in the fields of epidemiology and geriatrics who has dedicated her career to the science of healthy aging and longer health span for all. Dean Fried is a world-renowned geriatrician and epidemiologist. Since her appointment as Dean in 2008, she has led the transformation of Columbia Mailman School of Public Health's MPH and doctoral programs into interdisciplinary education that provides strong grounding in public health and expertise for leadership in the 21st Century. Under her leadership, the School has developed novel translational programs in interdisciplinary science, including health impacts of climate change; lifecourse bases for achieving public health; data science for health; and the creation of the Program in Global Health Justice and Governance, the Lerner Center for Public Health Promotion and the Robert N. Butler Columbia Aging Center. Debra Fraser-Howze

Debra is also Principal of D. Fraser Associates. This consulting firm works with clients to establish successful partnerships that result in improved health outcomes for underserved populations while driving corporate value and revenue growth. Before launching D. Fraser Associates, Ms. Fraser-Howze was the senior vice president, government and external affairs, at OraSure Technologies, a leader in the development, manufacturing, and distribution of oral fluid diagnostic and collection devices and other technologies designed to detect or diagnose critical medical conditions. While at OraSure Technologies, Ms. Fraser-Howze played a critical role in launching the company's OraQuick Rapid Ebola Test (2015), OraQuick In-Home HIV Test (2012), and the OraQuick Rapid HCV Test (2010). Before joining OraSure, Ms. Fraser-Howze served for 21 years as the president/CEO of the National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS (NBLCA), an organization she founded in 1987. Ms. Fraser-Howze has been widely recognized for more than three decades of global leadership to communities of color regarding teenage pregnancy, social welfare, and HIV and AIDS. She advised two U.S. presidents while serving on the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS from 1995-2001. In 2009, she was the recipient of the National Medical Association's (NMA) highest honor, the Scroll of Merit, and in 2010 she was inducted into the Hunter College Hall of Fame for distinguished achievement. Diana (she/her) earned a BBA in Human Resource Management from Baruch College, where she is currently pursuing an MPA in Nonprofit Management. Prior to joining the Mailman School of Public Health, she provided administrative support to the Human Resources departments at Brooklyn Community Services and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Dr. Ashwin Vasan

Dr. Vasan is a primary care physician, epidemiologist, and public health expert with nearly 20 years of experience working to improve physical and mental health, social welfare, and public policy for marginalized populations in New York City, nationally and globally. Since 2014 he has served on the faculty at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, and he continues to see patients as a primary care internist in the Division of General Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Vasan most recently served as the president and CEO of Fountain House, a national nonprofit fighting to improve health, increase opportunity, and end social and economic isolation for people most impacted by mental illness. Early in his career, Dr. Vasan spent nearly a decade at the intersection of global health, HIV, and primary care, working with the nonprofit Partners In Health (PIH) in Rwanda, Lesotho, and Boston, and at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Uganda and Geneva. From 2016 to 2019, Dr. Vasan served as the founding executive director of the Health Access Equity Unit at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, which focused on the intersection of clinical and social services for the care of people involved in the criminal legal system and other vulnerable populations. Dr. Cora Neumann

Dr. Cora Neumann is a public health expert and recently founded We Are Montana to support public health leadership across rural and Native Montana. Dr. David Harris

Dr. David Harris has had a long-standing career in the medical field. In addition, she holds an Honorary Associate Professor position in the Division of Epidemiology & Biostatistics at the School of Public Health at the University of Cape Town where she is based. Her research focuses on how best to prevent HIV among pregnant and lactating people, including use of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and improving diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections. Gabriel Galindo

Gabriel Galindo, DrPH '09, MPH, CHES, serves as senior public information representative for University of California, San Diego's AntiViral Research Center and an adjunct assistant professor with the Graduate School of Public Health at San Diego State University. Throughout his public health career, Galindo has worked in the field of HIV prevention and policy research. His research explores best practices to combat the health disparities and social justice inequities faced by ethno-racial, gender, and sexual minority communities within the United States. During his postdoctoral fellowship at University of California, San Francisco, Galindo initiated a qualitative study to examine the intersection of culture, identity, and behaviors among Latino sexual minorities. This study was honored with the 2012 Innovative Dissemination Award by the school's Community Advisory Board.
