BLACK BEAR GOLF LEAGUE

The Black Bear Golf League was officially formed in 2016 but began years before. A few guys would get together every Tuesday night to play a $5.00 skins game at Frear Park. It started with 4, and later was up to as many as 12. The "First 4" were John Mancinelli, Steve Garzone, Bobby Kennedy & Greg Maisenbacher.. The guys would go out and play 9 holes and race to empty the cooler of beer. The skins games got so competitive, that some nights they would play 15 to 17 holes to determine the winner. Most nights would end with them getting chased off the course at sunset by angry rangers wanting to go home. They kept playing later and later each week until there were rumblings around the course that the Tuesday Mancinelli group were dubbed "The Nightcrawlers". When the winner was finally determined much after sundown the guys would take the winnings and put it on the bar either at the Park Pub or the Black Bear Inn.
