Patrick Doyon

Patrick Doyon is a director, an animator and an illustrator and a father based in Montreal. Patrick Doyon is an Academy Award nominated director based in Montreal, Canada. Its first professional film Sunday (2011), produced by National Film Board of Canada, garnered honours on the international festival circuit as well as being nominated for an Oscar for best animated short in 2012 and winning a Jutra in this category the same year. He studied graphic design at Université du Québec à Montréal and since 2005, he is sharing his time between illustration and animation. Many of his works and collaborations have been awarded in various competitions : Art Directors Club, Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts, Applied Arts, 3x3 ProShow and Grafika have all highlighted the quality of his artwork. In 2015, he received the prestigious Governor General Literary Award for his first children's book The Sandwich Thief (published by Chronicle Books). In Spring 2017, Patrick presented his first video installation titled GRRR (Georges Rémi, Relu & Remixé) at the gallery La Bande Vidéo in Quebec City. This exhibition was screened in some places in Quebec and got selected at the 12th edition of Arte Lagunal Prize in Venice. While continuing his artistic practice, he is teaching at the UQAM School of Design and devotes time to mentoring emerging illustrators and filmmakers in specific occasions.
