The Sparks Heritage Foundation and Museum, Inc. was established on April 1, 1985 as an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3). The organization's mission is to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of Sparks and the Truckee Meadows for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations. For over a quarter century the Sparks Museum has been a product of their Preserve America Community, operating almost exclusively on volunteer labor... The Sparks Heritage Museum building was once the site of Sparks Library and Sparks Justice Court. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places qualifying under criteria A and C on March 9, 1992. It is the oldest existent government building in Sparks being built in 1931. With its distinctive, red tilted roof and dramatic, semi-circular arched entry, the building is an example of the Mediterranean Revival style unique in Sparks.
