ARCHAEOLOGICAL - Key Persons
Dr. Daniel Shoup is Principal and Owner of A/HC. A Registered Professional Archaeologist, he
has 15 years of experience managing cultural resources in California. In that time, he has authored over 200 reports for CEQA and NEPA/Section 106 projects. He has directed numerous archaeological excavations, most recently a six-month mitigation excavation at a major Native American site in Alameda. He also specializes in California land use history
research, the history of industry and technology, and international cultural heritage management. He holds a PhD in Archaeology and a Master's of Urban Planning from the University of Michigan, and is the author of 10 peer-reviewed journal articles.
Dr. Laurence Shoup is A/HC's Senior Historian Emeritus. He is an expert in California's transportation, industrial, hydroelectric, mining, and logging history. He has written many National Register of Historic Places significance evaluations and has taught cultural resources management courses at Sonoma State University. He is an expert in forensic historic research,
including historical land use studies, industrial history, pollution responsibility, and in documenting corporate histories and tracing corporate successorship. He holds an MA in Social Science from CSU Los Angeles and a PhD in U.S. History from Northwestern University and has authored a number of books on U.S. and California history.
Dr. Molly Fierer-Donaldson is a Registered Professional Archaeologist and has 20 years of experience in archaeology and cultural resources management, including 5 in California. She holds a PhD in Archaeology from Harvard University, and has managed archaeological excavations in California, Nevada, Massachusetts, and Honduras. Her expertise includes historical research, archaeological survey, archaeological sensitivity assessments excavation monitoring, and burial recovery. Most recently, Dr. Donaldson served as field director and laboratory manager for a major mitigation excavation in Alameda.
Jennifer Ho is Senior Historian and Owner of A/HC. She has extensive experience in cultural resources management, including scoping, managing, and authoring reports for CEQA and NEPA projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. As senior historian at A/HC, she has evaluated a wide range of built environment resources for historic eligibility at the national, state, and local levels. She has also developed numerous historic contexts and historic archaeological sensitivity analyses. Her experience includes forensic land use history in support of toxic torts, as well as industrial process history and successor liability studies. Ms. Ho meets the Secretary of the Interior's Standards in History and holds a BA in Anthropology and Religion and an MS in Journalism from Columbia University.

Suzanne Baker is Founder and Owner of A/HC. Until her retirement, she was principal investigator, field supervisor, and project manager for hundreds of cultural resources projects in the Bay Area and Sierra Nevada. She is past director of the Ometepe Archaeological Project and the Cueva la Conga Project in Nicaragua. Suzanne holds an MA in Archaeology from the University of Illinois and an MS in Rock Art Studies from the University of Witwaterstrand (South Africa). She is currently a PhD candidate at the Center for Rock Art Research + Management,
University of Western Australia.
Ward Hill is an Architectural Historian who has consulted for A/HC since 1994. Active in architectural history and historic building restoration in Northern California for over 40 years, he has completed over two hundred historic architecture reports under Section 106 of the National
Historic Preservation Act and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), including extensive work for the California Department of Transportation. He served as President of the Northern California Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians from 2004-2013.
William Kostura has worked as an Architectural Historian since 1993 and as a consultant for A/HC since 1996. He has written nearly four hundred reports evaluating or documenting over
one thousand buildings in seventeen northern California counties. These include large surveys, individual evaluations, HABS and HAER reports, Mills Act nominations, Historic Structure Reports, and a National Register nomination. He served on San Francisco's Landmarks Board
during 1995-1996 and has published numerous articles and two books on local history and architecture.
