BOOKWORK SERVICES - Key Persons

Carolyn Winslow

Carolyn moved to Bellingham in 1985 to attend Western Washington University. While obtaining a degree in Industrial Technology she discovered a love for art glass and attended Pilchuck Glass School and worked in a Bellingham glass studio. After graduating from Western she combined the architectural aspects from her degree with stained glass work and opened a glass studio with a partner. Carolyn successfully managed Glass Works Studio, LLC and its employees for over 10 years, including responsibility for all financial management and bookkeeping. She also taught classes and curated an annual art show. Carolyn volunteered for many years with Girl Scouts USA, applying her knowledge of bookkeeping and budgeting as a financial manager for camps and troops. "I love living in Whatcom County and supporting small businesses here. I've always been interested in both technical and artistic pursuits, which has allowed me to focus on the details of bookkeeping while envisioning a bigger picture of how to make a business successful."

Dolores Owen

Dolores has over 20 years of experience in business financial management. She began her career as a Systems Engineer for EDS, coding software for large companies. After several years, she and her family made a major change - moving to Alaska and opening three pizza restaurants. After six years operating and managing the restaurants, Dolores became the Finance Director for the Inter-island Ferry Authority. She was involved from the beginning of this grassroots effort that built two ferry vessels and provides daily service to Ketchikan from Prince of Wales Island, Alaska. Dolores managed all the finances and grants for the Ferry Authority as well as being the Human Resources Director. In 2009 Dolores earned an MBA and then took on the management of a multi-attorney law firm that provides statewide services in Alaska. With this firm, Dolores set up efficient and streamlined business processes, as well as providing full charge bookkeeping. During that time she also did bookkeeping and grant reporting for Island Charters. "I have a passion for details! I find it very rewarding when a business can run smoothly providing the product or service it does best, and everyone has peace of mind that the finances are in good order."
