On 17th of April 1997, Merit Educational & Charitable trust was established by the chairman Thiru A. Subramanian & Tmt. S. Nagalakshmi. They have been instrumental behind the Merit Group Of institutions catering to the various educational needs of the locality... The Merit polytechnic college was established in 2011 and has an intake capacity of 300 students (60 seats in each course). The institute is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and is affiliated to the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE), Chennai.
