aPARNA BHONSLE

  • Senior Speech and Language Therapist
Aparna graduated from City, University of London with a Masters in Human Communication in 1993 after completing a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing (hons) from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 1990. Aparna enjoys working with children with communication difficulties, conducting therapeutic work through play and practical activities with the active support of the parents. In addition to that, she has a special interest in the links between language and literacy and helping children perform better in school by improving their language capability. Aparna has over 20 years of experience in training parents and teachers in the facilitation of speech and language development. Finding solutions to problems and witnessing the skill development in children motivates her to venture out in new ideas for therapies and methods. Aparna is a member of Rehabilitation Council of India.

Job Titles:
  • Cognitive Therapist
Denise graduated from University of Sussex in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Her honours Bachelor Thesis focused on deception detection in interviews, which involves the analysis of verbal production and language style matching. During the course of her study, Denise developed an inquisitiveness on how children with special needs and learning difficulties communicate and respond to therapies. Denise leads the Early Intervention Programme in Singapore Brain Development Centre along with our Speech therapist and Occupational therapist. Most of her work in this programme encompasses sensory integration and play therapy along with the incorporation of nursery rhymes, rhythm, and dance movements for toddlers. Denise tackles challenges skilfully and is highly motivated by the progress of the children. Most of her work at Singapore Brain Development Centre consist of play and cognitive therapy. As a dynamic individual, Denise also plays an integral part in equipment and safety management in our sensory gym. She is a gym enthusiast and an avid novel reader. In 2018, Denise completed the GSS Literacy & Maths course, GSS Readiness & Writing course, K to 5th Grade Handwriting course conducted by Dr. Peter Giroux of Bridging Talents.

guo hua

Job Titles:
  • Occupational Therapist
Guo Hua graduated from Nanyang Polytechnic with a diploma in Occupational Therapy in 2011 and has obtained Master of Science, Occupational Therapy from Queen Margaret University (Edinburgh) in 2014. He took part in a research paper titled "Normative Data of the Beery-Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration of Pre-schoolers in Singapore", which was presented at the Asia-Pacific Occupational Therapy Conference 2011. In 2014, the research paper has been published in an international peer reviewed journal, Child, Care, Health and Development. This research was carried out in various preschools and provided a useful normative data for clinicians to assess children's visual motor abilities. Guo Hua takes a keen interest in working with children with special needs and had gained his clinical experience by providing occupational therapy services at Fei Yue Community Services (EIPIC) and MINDSville - Children's wing. He has been trained in various approaches such as the following: Reality therapy, Choice theory (William Glasser Institute) Social thinking (Michelle Garcia Winner) Therapeutic listening: Listening with the whole body (Vital links) Cognitive Orientation for daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) Sensory Integration & Praxis Test Certified (SIPT) Interactive Metronome Certified (IMC) Greenspan Floortime Approach His clinical experience includes managing children with sensory processing difficulties, learning disabilities and other developmental delays. He values providing family-oriented therapy and parent education, as these are essential for successful intervention outcomes in the child's development.

Jason has 20 years of experience under his belt in leading higher centres for learning in various capacities as COO of Parkway Education Centre and CEO of MindSharpener. He now leads SBIC's drive in changing lives.
