SIAS Global was founded by Russell F. Schimmer in 2009, when he began his graduate studies. Russell traveled extensively to extractive sites around the world as part of his dissertation research, pursuing a dual degree (J.D. and Ph.D.) and specializing in environmental law and natural resources. As a result of his growing expertise in the geospatial sciences, he worked to develop methods for analyzing and monitoring extractive industries in the context of regulatory and financial systems. Through his multidisciplinary approach, Russell assembled a group of experts who became the core team of senior staff and advisors at SIAS... While SIAS currently focuses on extractive sites in the United States, we have worked in many countries around the globe. Our vision is to expand our full product array, increasing our database coverage of essential resource activities to serve the North American, Eurasian, African, and Australian resource management and investment communities.
