Alain Monié - Chairman

Alain Monié has been a Director of AES since July 2017 and serves on the Governance Committee, Innovation and Technology Committee and is Chair of the Compensation Committee of the Board. Mr. Monié serves as Executive Chairman, as of 2022, and served as the chief executive officer of Ingram Micro Inc. ("Ingram Micro"), a leader in delivering the full spectrum of global technology and supply chain solutions to businesses around the world. Mr. Monié joined Ingram Micro in 2003 and was appointed president of the Asia Pacific region in 2004. From 2007 to 2010, he served as president and chief operating officer of Ingram Micro. Following one year as chief executive officer of Singapore-based Asia Pacific Resources International Limited, he returned to Ingram Micro as chief operating officer in late 2011 and became chief executive officer in January 2012. Prior to joining Ingram Micro, Mr. Monié held senior international leadership positions with AlliedSignal Inc. ("AlliedSignal") and, subsequently, Honeywell International ("Honeywell") after the two companies merged. Mr. Monié played a key role in AlliedSignal's 1999 merger with Honeywell and, from 2000 to 2002, he served as Honeywell's president of Latin America and head of the Industrial and Building Automation group for that region. Before joining AlliedSignal, Mr. Monié held general management positions with French aerospace company Sogitec Inc. and, prior to that, he was a controller with Renault. He started his career as an engineer in Mexico while in military service. Mr. Monié earned a master's degree in business administration from the Institut Supérieur des Affaires in Jouy-en-Josas, France (now part of Groupe HEC). He graduated with honors in automation engineering studies at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers (ENSAM), Bordeaux and Paris.

Bernerd Da Santos

Bernerd Da Santos is the Executive Vice President and President of Global Renewables at AES, and President of AES Clean Energy. Bernerd served as Chief Operating Officer from 2015 to 2023, spearheading the remarkable transformation of AES' operations. He is responsible for overseeing the Company's continued growth in renewables and green hydrogen, accelerating a just and responsible transition to carbon free energy. Bernerd is deeply involved in the creation of initiatives and energy solutions that positively impact AES people, partners, customers, the environment, and the communities we serve. In his more than 20 years with AES, Bernerd has held a variety of leadership positions and remained passionate about promoting a culture of purpose, safety, collaboration, innovation, and delivering highest standards to customers and communities. Bernerd has led the end-to-end transformation of the supply chain organization, implemented programs to maintain a strong pipeline and scale the growth of the global renewables business while accelerating a companywide digitization of all information technology processes and applications, and leading co-innovation with strategic suppliers. One of Bernerd's most notable achievements has been leading the energy transition through the proactive decarbonization of conventional generation and the decommissioning of coal plants for a greener, cleaner future. This included the successful launch of four AES Smart Centers; these state-of-the-art facilities have scaled the use of robotics and drones to employ data for predictive analytics in renewable and conventional generation, smart grid operations, and customer experience. Through innovative solutions and minimal necessary infrastructure, Bernerd has maximized efficiency and helped distinguish AES as a leader in the industry. His global optimization and standardization efforts resulted in the leveraging of AES' synergies and economies of scale, realizing $1 billion in value. Recognizing the critical importance of safety and environmental stewardship, Bernerd has recently led the adoption of new safety and environmental analysis systems and standards. These proactive measures have resulted in global lost time incident rates for AES people and operations and construction contractors that rank in the top 10%, based on US benchmarks. Bernerd's expertise extends through operations and beyond with a proven track record in international corporate finance and business transformation. Prior to serving as Executive Vice President and COO, he served as CFO for AES' Global Finance Operations and CFO for the Utilities group and for the Latin America and Africa group. He has played pivotal roles in leading generation, transmission, and distribution companies across the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Asia and his invaluable insights have earned him board memberships AES Brasil Energia S.A., AES Mong Duong Power Co. Ltd., AES Andes, IPALCO, Son My LNG Terminal LLC, and AES Renewable Holdings, LLC., among others. Additionally, he serves on advisory boards, driving the future of energy worldwide. Originally from Venezuela, Bernerd joined AES in 2000 through its acquisition of La Electricidad de Caracas. He is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Universidad José Maria Vargas with Bachelor degrees in Business Administration and Public Administration, Business Management and Finance, and an MBA. Bernerd finds joy and fulfillment in his professional and personal life. Chris Shelton

As Chief Product Officer and AES Next President, Chris Shelton leads a team addressing the energy industry's biggest challenges by turning transformative ideas from concept into reality. He is responsible for developing and identifying new solutions to best meet our customers' diverse needs, enabling us to accelerate a cleaner energy future for everyone. Throughout his career with AES, Chris has driven transformation in our global businesses through innovative business models and technologies, including energy efficiency, digital customer engagement, robotics, electric-mobility, and new clean energy solutions including wind, solar, and battery energy storage. He has built strategic solutions and capabilities into AES, including the acquisition and integration of our innovative high-growth solar team. Building on the broad industry expertise across AES, Chris pioneered the development of Lithium-ion battery storage for the electric industry by applying the technology to power markets for the first time in 2008 and was instrumental in the formation of Fluence, our joint venture with Siemens, the world leader in energy storage solutions and technologies. Under Chris' leadership, AES has continued to support the development of scalable ecosystems for the clean energy transition. These include Uplight, the leading customer action platform for utilities and 5B, the prefab solar PV product delivering faster, higher density solar projects for customers. Chris is a member of the Boards of Fluence, Uplight and 5B. Chris received a bachelor's degree in physics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and completed executive certificate programs at Georgetown University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Gerard M. Anderson

Gerard M. Anderson has been a director of AES since July 2023 and serves as a member of the Financial Audit Committee and the Innovation and Technology Committee of the Board. Mr. Anderson has more than 30 years of experience in the energy sector. Mr. Anderson is the former Chairman and CEO of DTE Energy. During his tenure, he founded and built DTE's non-regulated businesses and led innovation efforts to improve the company's utility operations and profitability. Mr. Anderson has held a wide variety of industry and regional leadership roles. He served as Chairman of the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), which pivoted to a greater focus on clean energy initiatives under his leadership. He also served as Chairman of the Detroit Economic Club for seven years and is the founding Chairman of the Detroit Regional Partnership. Mr. Anderson holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, an MS and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Holly Keller Koeppel - Chairman

Holly Keller Koeppel has been a Director of AES since April 2015 and serves on the Governance Committee, Innovation and Technology Committee and is Chair of the Financial Audit Committee of the Board. Ms. Koeppel, a senior operating and financial executive, has served for over thirty years in the energy industry. Her knowledge of global energy-related commodity markets and infrastructure industries offers valuable insights to the Board. Most recently (from March 2015 to January 2017), Ms. Koeppel was Managing Director and Co-Head of Corsair Infrastructure Management. From 2010 to February 2015, Ms. Koeppel was Partner and Global Co-Head of Citi Infrastructure Investors, a division of Citigroup. Prior to her service at Citi Infrastructure Investors, Ms. Koeppel served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for American Electric Power Corporation ("AEP") from 2006 to 2009, and several additional executive positions at AEP from 2000 to 2006. Koeppel received a BS in Business Administration from Ohio State University and an MBA from Ohio State University where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Inderpal S. Bhandari

Inderpal S. Bhandari has been a director of AES since January 2024 and serves as a member of the Innovation and Technology Committee of the Board. Mr. Bhandari is the former Global Chief Data Officer for International Business Machine Corporation (IBM) where he led IBM's global data strategy. He spent more than 20 years working in the healthcare industry including at Cambia Health Solutions as Senior Vice President and Chief Data Officer and at Express Scripts / Medco Health Solutions as Vice President of Knowledge Solutions and Chief Data Officer. Mr. Bhandari holds a BTECH, Electrical & Electronics Engineering degree from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, an MS with a major in Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a PhD with a major in Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.

Janet Davidson

Janet Davidson has been a Director of AES since February 2019 and serves on the Compensation Committee and Innovation and Technology Committee of the Board. Ms. Davidson brings to the AES Board a deep knowledge of technology, global business operations, customer care and sales, and corporate strategy. Ms. Davidson began her career in 1979 as a member of the Technical Staff of Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies (as of 2006 Alcatel Lucent), and served from 1979 through 2011 in several key positions including, as Group President Internetworking Systems (2001 to 2005), Chief Strategy Officer (2005 to 2006), Chief Compliance Officer (2006 to 2008) and Executive Vice President, Quality & Customer Care (2008 to 2011). Ms. Davidson became a member of the supervisory board of ST Microelectronics in June 2013, a leading integrated device manufacturer delivering solutions that are key to smart driving and the Internet of Things where she is a member of the Audit and Strategic Committees. Ms. Davidson has a BA in Physics from Lehigh University, a MS in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Jay Morse - Chairman

Mr. Morse brings substantial executive experience to the Board, including board, investment and other finance expertise. Before his retirement in December 2008, Mr. Morse served as the Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of The Washington Post Company (the "Post"), now Graham Holdings Co., a diversified education and media company whose principal operations include educational services, newspaper and magazine print and online publishing, television broadcasting and cable television systems recording over $4.4 billion in annual operating revenues. During Mr. Morse's 19 year tenure, the Post's leadership made more than 100 investments in both domestic and international companies and included new endeavors in emerging markets. Prior to joining the Post, Mr. Morse was a partner at Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers), where he worked with publishing/media companies and multilateral lending institutions for more than 17 years. Mr. Morse graduated with a B.A. from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Morse is a Certified Public Accountant.

Joel Abramson

Joel joined AES in 1995 and became a member of the leadership team in 2020 as Senior Vice President, Mergers and Acquisitions. He is responsible for identifying new partners and scale businesses to accelerate the future of energy. Joel has played a leading role in AES' greener energy transformation by systematically increasing our renewable energy investments and portfolio to best meet the needs of our diverse stakeholder groups. Joel has served in a diverse set of financial, development and stakeholder management roles at AES, enabling him to originate and lead new functions as the success of his efforts have grown our company. After serving seven years in business development in Asia and the United States, he became AES' first Director of Project Finance and later founded our Portfolio Management group to accelerate energy transformation on a holistic level. Joel's time directing the Investor Relations group, serving as Chief Financial Officer, Global Generation, and leading global Corporate Planning and Development heightened a wide breadth and depth of expertise to lead our company into the future of the energy industry. He has served on the board of several AES portfolio companies, including AES Clean Energy, sPower, AES Gener (now AES Andes) and Uplight. Joel earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Politics and Economics from Middlebury College and participated in leadership programs at University of Virginia's Darden School of Business and Georgetown University. Juan Ignacio Rubiolo

Juan Ignacio has worked at AES since 2001 and in 2022 was named Executive Vice President and President, International Businesses. Juan Ignacio has proven experience in business development, risk management and commercial strategy, and he combines his knowledge of the energy sector with AES global resources and local expertise to accelerate the responsible transition to sustainable energy. Under his leadership, AES continues to grow its renewables and natural gas platforms in the region to ensure critical diversification, cleaner reliability and reduce reliance on oil to help our partners achieve their emissions and energy goals. In the past three years, he has led the acceleration of innovative energy solutions such as efficient lighting projects, solar generation for self-consumption of large commercial and industrial clients, the digitalization of our utilities, and soon the 5B prefabricated solar program in Panama and Puerto Rico. Since joining AES in 2001, Juan Ignacio has actively participated in the opening of electricity markets in Argentina, the Philippines, Panama and the Dominican Republic. As part of the company's strategy to accelerate the delivery of reliable and sustainable renewable and natural gas energy solutions in the region, Juan Ignacio oversaw the structuring of AES' joint ventures with Grupo BAL in Mexico and with Energas in the Dominican Republic. He also led the closing of the first AES energy export from Argentina to Brazil that was a regional milestone in interconnection. His expertise in Strategic, Financial and Commercial Planning as well as Market Structuring and Project Management in emerging markets has led him to advise various AES businesses on promoting competitive markets and strategic business models that meet customers' needs. He serves on the board of directors of AES Chile, AES Brasil, EnerAB in Mexico and AES Panamá. Originally from Argentina, Juan Ignacio holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Universidad Austral in Argentina and a masters degree in Project Management from Quebec University in Canada. Julie Laulis

Julie Laulis has been a Director of AES since April 2020 and serves on the Financial Audit Committee and Innovation and Technology Committee of the Board. Ms. Laulis brings to the AES Board a deep knowledge of business agility, customer care, technology and transformational leadership. Ms. Laulis serves as Chair of the Board, as of 2018, and as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cable ONE, a position she has held since 2017. In 2008, Ms. Laulis was named Chief Operations Officer, responsible for Cable ONE's three operation divisions and two call centers. In 2012, she was named Chief Operating Officer, adding sales, marketing and technology to her responsibilities. She was promoted to President and Chief Operations Officer in 2015. Prior to joining Cable ONE, Ms. Laulis served in various marketing management positions with Jones Communications in the Washington, DC and Denver, CO areas. Ken Zagzebski

Ken leads our Utilities' business to accelerate its growth and transformation goals while continuing to deliver affordable, reliable and sustainable service to our customers. He is a seasoned energy executive with a 30-year career marked by operational, financial and executive leadership, both domestically and internationally. Since joining AES in 2007, Ken has held a variety of roles across the company. Most recently, Ken served as the Chief Operating Officer of AES Clean Energy, where he focused on global execution, engineering and construction integration. Ken has been President of AES Southland Energy and President of AES' former U.S. Strategic Business Unit. He previously held senior roles at Indianapolis Power & Light (now AES Indiana) and Dayton Power and Light (now AES Ohio) as President and CEO. During his tenure, Ken has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to innovation and transformation. He oversaw the expansion of the solar and grid-scale battery business, successfully contracting over 200 MW, including the nation's largest solar + storage project. He also played a pivotal role in executing a strategic exit from fossil-based generation in Ohio. Under his leadership, Indianapolis Power & Light Company achieved the distinction of being among the top five per capita in the nation for solar capacity. Ken received a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and an MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. 

Maura Shaughnessy

Maura Shaughnessy has been a director of AES since July 2021 and serves as a member of the Financial Audit Committee and Innovation and Technology Committee of the Board. After thirty-two years in the investment management industry, Ms. Shaughnessy brings to the AES Board a deep knowledge of the global utilities and energy infrastructure industries. She began her career as a Research Assistant at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve in the domestic macro section. After earning her M.B.A., Ms. Shaughnessy became an Equity Research Analyst at Harvard Management Company, covering several industries including electric utilities. In 1991, Ms. Shaughnessy joined MFS Investment Management ("MFS") as an equity analyst and in the following year, launched and managed the MFS Utilities Fund until her retirement in 2019. Included in this Fund were utilities (gas, water, electric), power, telecommunications (wireless, landline, cable) and energy infrastructure companies. The Fund had a global mandate and Ms. Shaughnessy invested across the capital structure. During her tenure at MFS, Ms. Shaughnessy also managed diversified funds in the large cap value and multi cap core disciplines for approximately eight years. Ms. Shaughnessy graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Economics from Colby College and received an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College where she was named an Amos Tuck Scholar. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Moisés Naím

Moisés Naím has been a Director of AES since April 2013 and serves on the Governance Committee, Compensation Committee and Innovation and Technology Committee of the Board. Dr. Naím is a distinguished fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, an internationally syndicated columnist, and the host and producer of Efecto Naím; a weekly television program on international affairs that airs throughout the Americas. The program earned an Emmy Award in 2018. Dr. Naím was Venezuela's Minister of Development, director of its Central Bank and an Executive Director at the World Bank. From 1996 to 2010, he was the editor-in-chief of Foreign Policy magazine. Dr. Naím is the author of many scholarly articles and over 14 books on international affairs, economics and politics; including "Illicit" and "The End of Power" which was selected by the Washington Post and the Financial Times as one of the best books of the year. He recently published his first novel, "Dos Espías en Caracas". Dr. Naím holds a Ph.D from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Doctor Honoris Causa in International Affairs from American University.

Paul leverages a unique breadth and depth of knowledge in traditional and alternative energy across multiple markets to bring new projects and partnerships to life for our customers. Since starting his employment with AES in 2007, he has advanced numerous transformative initiatives to position AES as a global leader in the acceleration of a cleaner energy future. Paul leads our global legal team, serves as a principal advisor to the board and oversees our Ethics and Compliance functions. He previously served as Chief of Staff to the CEO and in several positions in AES' Legal group, working on M&A, joint ventures, project development and regulatory matters. Today, he brings his unique expertise to our US utility businesses as a board member of IPALCO and AES Ohio. He also serves on the boards of the Business Council for International Understanding and the Coalition for Integrity, organizations that promote global economic cooperation and combat corruption, respectively. Since 2006, he has partnered with the International Law Institute as a course advisor and lecturer, training government officials from developing countries on Capital Markets Development and Regulation. Prior to AES, Paul spent five years as the chief legal advisor of the US Agency for International Development worldwide credit guaranty program, driving the portfolio from $100M to $1B to foster sustainable development and stimulate the economy in developing countries. He began his career working as a project finance lawyer at the law firms of White & Case and Freshfields. Paul earned his bachelor's degree at Columbia University and JD at the Georgetown University Law Center. In his free time, Paul loves traveling with his wife and two daughters and has a life long passion for tennis.

Ricardo Manuel Falú

Ricardo Falú unites our company's global operations to accelerate the delivery of greener, smarter energy solutions to our customers and communities. Over the last 20 years, Ricardo has brought his diverse experiences in energy, finance, legal and business to AES. Prior to serving as COO, he most recently led global Strategy, Commercial and Marketing teams to set AES' long term decarbonization strategy to accelerate the future of energy while enabling our customers' energy transitions. Under his leadership as President of the Andes SBU and CEO of AES Andes, including AES Chile, AES Colombia and AES Argentina, Ricardo launched the markets' transformational Greentegra strategy through which we are accelerating the decarbonization of Chile, advancing the diversification of Colombia's electricity system and supporting energy integration with Argentina. Prior to his role as President of the Andes SBU and CEO of AES Andes, Ricardo served as the CFO for our businesses in the Andes and in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. He focused on Strategic and Financial Planning, Accounting and Tax to help build a strong and competitive renewables pipeline as CFO. Since joining AES in 2003, Ricardo has accelerated our company's transformation through additional leadership roles in Corporate Finance, FP&A, Investor Relations, M&A and Strategy. Stephen Coughlin - CFO, EVP

Stephen rejoined AES in 2020 after serving as the founding CEO of Fluence (NASDAQ: FLNC), a company formed when AES merged our energy storage business with Siemens. He led Fluence for its first two and a half years, assisting in its development as the global market leader and publicly traded company it is today with 6.2+ GW of storage and optimized bidding assets in operation or contracted in 44+ markets. As Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Stephen plays an integral role in developing AES' strategic plans that have simplified our equity story and enabled ranking among the top renewable developers in the world. Prior to his current role, Stephen served as AES' Vice President for Corporate Strategy and Financial Planning, leading our strategic scenario activities, including ensuring the company's resiliency during the pandemic, guiding our capital allocation decisions to accelerate the future of energy and managing our budgeting and forecasting process. He also previously served as the Chief of Staff to the AES CEO and the Director of Finance for AES' wind generation business. Before joining AES, Stephen was an economic and litigation consultant at Charles River Associates. He also worked in business development and strategic planning at AOL Mobile and conducted business analysis at MCI Communications. Stephen is a strategic and financial advisor to the AES board and contributes to a broad range of corporate governance activities, including mergers and acquisitions, maintaining a risk management framework, investing in new technologies, and communicating with investors. Stephen received a bachelor's degree in Commerce and Finance from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley.

Tarun Khanna - Chairman

Tarun Khanna has been a Director of AES since April 2009 and serves on the Governance Committee, Financial Audit Committee and is Chair of the Innovation and Technology Committee of the Board. Dr. Khanna is the Jorge Paulo Lemann Professor at the Harvard Business School, joining the faculty in 1993. He brings substantial expertise regarding global business, emerging markets and corporate strategy to the Board. Dr. Khanna's scholarly work has been published in a range of economics, management and foreign policy journals and published "Billions of Entrepreneurs: How China and India are Reshaping Their Futures and Yours," a book focusing on the drivers of entrepreneurship in Asia. He also co-authored the book "Winning in Emerging Markets: A Roadmap for Strategy and Execution," which was published in March 2010. His latest book, "Trust: Creating the Foundation for Entrepreneurship in Developing Countries," will be published worldwide in July 2018. Teresa M. Sebastian has been a director of AES since January 2021 and serves as a member of the Compensation Committee, Innovation and Technology Committee, and is Chair of the Governance Committee of the Board. Ms. Sebastian brings cross-industry experience in energy, restaurants, manufacturing, banking and data technology, as well as cross-functional experience in finance, securities and capital markets transactions, mergers and acquisitions, internal audit, and governance. Ms. Sebastian is President and Chief Executive Officer of The Dominion Asset Group, an angel investment and venture capital firm. Previously, Ms. Sebastian was the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary and led the Internal Audit function, of Darden Restaurants, Inc., from October 2010 to March 2015. Before her time at Darden Restaurants, Ms. Sebastian served as Vice President at Veyance Technologies, Inc., a manufacturer and marketer of engineered rubber products, Senior Vice President at Information Resources, Inc., a provider of information, analytics and insights, and held leadership roles in senior management at DTE Energy Company and CMS Energy Corporation. Ms. Sebastian also held positions in financial analysis at Michigan Consolidated Gas Co., Morgan Stanley, and Bank of America. She is currently involved in academia as an adjunct professor for accounting and enterprise risk management at Vanderbilt Law School, and an adjunct professor for governance, compliance, and enterprise risk management at the University of Michigan Law School. Ms. Sebastian graduated with a B.G.S. in Sociology from the University of Michigan, an M.B.A. from the University of North Florida, a J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law and a L.L.M from Wayne State University. Tish serves on the boards of IPALCO, Fluence and AES Ohio while serving on AES' compensation and benefits committees. Tish studied management, leadership, organizational development and human resources through programs at Villanova University, Strayer University, University of Maryland University College and University of Virginia's Darden School of Business. She earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Human Resources and continued her education through various certificates in business management and leadership. Tish resides in Virginia with her husband Juan and their two sons.
