Carl Ingram

Carl specialises in wills, probate and tax planning. He is a full member of STEP, the professional body that represent and train professionals in this complicated area of law. Carl passed several challenging exams to gain his TEP status, and is technically skilled at providing advice on wills, probate and tax planning matters. Carl has a particular interest in protecting the assets and welfare of elderly clients and regularly advises on how to protect against care home fees. His expertise in the subject means that he can offer solutions other solicitors can't. He is also able to advise on and set up powers of attorney to help protect the money and health of vulnerable people. He is a champion of no-nonsense advice, particularly when it comes to inheritance tax planning. Carl likes to get to know the client's circumstances in detail before writing a report in plain English that clients will be able to understand easily and refer to for years to come. He also keeps his clients updated regularly on any changes in the law by means of a free newsletter. Carl is always happy to offer a few words of free advice. Carl's broad range of experience in wills and trusts included a secondment working with HSBC trust company, where he learned the finer points of managing trusts and dealing with the many issues that can arise as part of the probate procedure.

Carl Robinson

Carl is a Consultant Solicitor with the firm specialising in General Commercial Litigation, Employment, and Data Protection. He trained and qualified in London (in 2000) and was a partner in a Central London law firm for 8 years before relocating to East Sussex in April 2018. He is very experienced and has handled many high value commercial disputes in the High Court, Court of Appeal and House of Lords (now the Supreme Court), and has even been before the Privy Council. He is also experienced in arbitration disputes (typically LCIA and ICC). He has handled employment disputes in both the Employment Tribunal and the Employment Appeal Tribunal, and advises on data protection and the EU's GDPR. Carl's array of experience of general commercial disputes includes breach of contract, professional negligence, breach of warranties, conflict of laws and jurisdiction, shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, debt recovery, enforcement of foreign judgments, contempt, fraud and conspiracy. However, his particular area of expertise is the enforcement of contracts and restrictive covenants and obtaining emergency injunctive relief. He is incredibly attentive and provides first class advice. Notable cases he has worked on include: Indicii Salus Limited v Chandrasekaran & Ors [2008] EWCA Civ 67, Avrora Fine Arts Investment Ltd v Christie, Manson & Woods Ltd [2012] EWHC 2198 (Ch) Outside of the office Carl enjoys all sport, and in particular table tennis.

Deborah is a solicitor representing survivors of abuse in civil claims for compensation. She has specialised in abuse cases for the last 22 years. She has represented hundreds of abuse survivors, both adults and children, in personal injury and criminal injury claims for both recent and non-recent abuse. She has vast experience in difficult cases involving local authorities, schools, care institutions, religious organisations, and individuals. She has acted as lead solicitor in several successful high profile group actions. She obtained the first Group Litigation Order in England and Wales in the Red Bank group action which was a case about abuse in a children's secure unit. Deborah believes it is a great privilege to represent abuse survivors and will do all she can to try and obtain the best result for her clients. Deborah is a member of the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers.

Emma obtained her Law Degree from the University of Kent in 2006 and has worked in family law since 2007. Emma has practised in Brighton & Hove for over fifteen years and has strong local knowledge and connections amongst fellow professionals, services and groups. Emma heads up the Family Department at GoodLaw Solicitors LLP and specialises in cases involving children, including contact and residence disputes, relocation cases and matters involving social services. In care proceedings, Emma represents parents, grandparents and joined parties. Emma is an experienced specialist in cases concerning complex medical evidence relating to Non-Accidental Injuries, fractures, genetic abnormalities and sexual abuse cases where there are virological issues. With a thriving practice, Emma has acted on a number of recently reported cases. Within the private law side practice, Emma has specific expertise in cases involving international/jurisdictional aspects including Hague and Non-Hague abduction cases, child welfare or safeguarding issues and also those where clients have specific learning needs or there are Court of Protection issues. Emma is also a Resolution Accredited Specialist in private law children and TOLATA cases (Trust of Land) where there are property disputes between unmarried couples and frequently deal with complicated disputes on separation involving multiple properties and assets. In addition to this, Emma is a Family Law Mediator having undertaken her training with Resolution in 2021. Your colleague, Gareth Collins, has recently completed a rather protracted sale and purchase on our behalf.
