My introduction to hardwood floors began at 8 or 9 years old. My family would travel around Oregon in the summer refinishing gym floors. In 1979 after moving back home to Oregon from Alaska, I started working with my dad at a Union flooring company. After about 2 years my dad started Ross Hardwood Floors. My brothers and I joined him a couple of years later. In 1990 my father retired, and we took over the business. My brothers left a couple of years later, and I took over as sole owner. I ran the business until 2007 when we decided to move to Coeur d Alene to be near family that had moved here earlier.
