Aly has a varied insurance defence practice. He acts for clients in a range of areas including personal injury tort actions and accident benefits, priority/loss transfer, disability, property damage, occupiers' liability, insurance coverage and professional negligence. Prior to joining Dutton Brock in 2018, Aly articled at a prominent insurance defence firm in Toronto where he gained experience on a broad range of insurance defence matters.
Andrea articled with Dutton Brock LLP and joined the firm as an Associate in 2009 following her call to the Ontario bar. She entered the Partnership in 2021.
Brian Brock, Dutton Brock's counsel, has been a prominent civil litigation trial lawyer in Ontario for more than 30 years. He is a highly regarded litigator and has been the lead counsel on major cases from coast to coast. Brian appears at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada.

Brian is an Adjunct Professor (Medicine and the Law) at Osgoode Hall Law School. Chad is chair of Dutton Brock's professional education committee and a member of its articling committee, and takes pride in mentoring younger lawyers. He is a member of various professional associations and regularly speaks and presents to clients and colleagues in the insurance industry. Less seriously, Chad is proud to have been a member of a past winning team - "Torts Illustrated" - at the Advocates' Society lawyers' trivia challenge.
Chris has been a partner at Dutton Brock since 2005, after joining the firm as an associate in 1998. Chris was also called to the British Columbia Bar in 1996.
Chris' practice involves advising insurers, corporations and individuals on insurance and reinsurance coverage issues with a particular focus on commercial general liability policies. He has argued coverage matters on behalf of insurers at all levels of court in Ontario. He represents insurers, reinsurers, brokers and corporations in first and third party liability claims.
Chris is nationally published in the field of insurance law, having co-authored sections on the insurance contract and motor vehicle insurance for the Insurance Bureau of Canada's re-write of the Canadian Encyclopedic Digest's Insurance Law text. Chris is a regular contributor to insurance industry publications and lectures frequently on insurance coverage, tort liability and risk management issues.
Education
Chris began his education at the Richard Ivey School Of Business At The University Of Western Ontario with an Honours degree in Business Administration (HBA), and a Major in marketing management, with top 10% standing.
Chris attended Dalhousie University Law School between 1992 and 1995 and received his LL.B. with a Major in civil litigation. He was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 1996 and to the Ontario Bar in 1998.

Chris was awarded with three University Of Western Ontario Entrance Scholarships from 1988 to 1991. Christopher has a general insurance defence litigation practice and has acted on behalf of insurers on various personal injury, general liability, property and subrogation matters in addition to providing opinions on insurance coverage issues. Christopher has been involved in trials, appeals and motions before the various levels of court in Ontario and appearances before various administrative tribunals.

David, a partner since 1998, has focused his practice on civil litigation including products and occupiers' liability claims, property loss, directors' and officers' liability, professional malpractice, and casualty claims. David was certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Civil Litigation on September 19, 2008.
David Raposo joined the firm in 2006 and became a partner in 2013. Since his call to the bar in 2004, David has restricted his practice to the defence of insurers with an emphasis on first party accident benefit disputes.
He represents insurers at all levels of Court in Ontario as well as the Licence Appeal Tribunal.
David is the past Chair of the Canadian Defence Lawyers Accident Benefits Substantive Law Committee.
David attended the University of Windsor and obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in both Criminology and Psychology in 2000.

Deanna, who was made a partner in 2011, articled with Dutton Brock and joined the firm as an associate following her call to the Bar in 2002.
Eric joined Dutton Brock in 2009 following his call to the Ontario Bar and became a partner in 2017. His practice focuses on insurance coverage disputes, defence and subrogation, including product liability, personal injury, professional liability, disability, first-party property and transportation. He completed a Master of Laws on insurance coverage litigation and has published numerous articles and papers in industry and peer-reviewed journals on insurance related topics. He regularly attends the Ontario Superior Court of Justice on interlocutory matters and has appeared as trial counsel in courts and tribunals in Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta. Eric is also a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Law Society of British Columbia.
Eric sits on the Canadian Defence Lawyer's Insurance Coverage Law committee and has chaired the CDL's annual insurance coverage symposium.

Eric earned a Bachelor of Arts with distinction from the University of Calgary (2003), a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Victoria (2006) and a Master of Laws from the University of British Columbia (2009). Joanna articled with Dutton Brock and joined the firm as an associate following her 2013 call to the Ontario Bar. Lida articled with Dutton Brock and joined the firm as an associate following her 2014 call to the Ontario Bar. Lida also has gained experience working on complex claims in relation to various construction and public infrastructure projects. Lida has represented clients at all levels of court in Ontario.

Lida was called to the bar in 2014. She received her Juris Doctor from University of Windsor in 2013. She received her Honours Bachelor of Arts (Honour Roll) from University of Western Ontario in 2008 with a double-major in Political Science and Psychology. Lucas completed his articles with Dutton Brock and joined the firm as an Associate following his call to the bar in 2023. Lucas is developing a broad civil litigation practice including product liability, general negligence, occupier's liability, and motor vehicle accidents.

Lucas was called to the Ontario Bar in 2023. He received his J.D. from the University of New Brunswick in 2022. Prior to attending law school, Lucas graduated with a Bachelor of Honours Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business.

While in law school, Lucas won the Jean-Marc Ouellete Insurance Law prize as the student with the highest standing in Insurance Law. Lucas also won the William Henry Harrison Moot Court Prize as one of the students with the highest standing in oral advocacy.
In 1988 Mark commenced his articles with Lee Fireman Regan, initially doing tort work, before moving into the area of Statutory Accident Benefits. Since that time Mark has developed a specialization in inter-company disputes, addressing both loss transfer and priority matters both at private arbitration and on appeal. Mark, who has also practiced in the area of insurance defence, has argued arbitrations and appeals at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and in the Court of Appeal for Ontario.
Mark and several colleagues moved their accident benefits practice to Dutton Brock in November of 2000, where as a partner Mark heads up the accident benefits practice group. Outside of work Mark enjoys spending time with his family, working on old cars and sailing.

Mark attended Glendon College of York University and completed his Honours B.A. in psychology and philosophy in 1984. He went on to obtain his LL.B from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1988. He was called to the Bar in 1990.
Paul Tushinski, C.S., is a civil litigator. He was called to the Bar over 30 years ago and is a partner of the firm. Paul served as Managing Partner of the firm from 2002 to 2018. He was admitted to the Ontario bar in 1985 after receiving his LL.B from the University of Windsor - Dean's Honour List. He has received special calls to the bars of Nova Scotia and Nunavut. Philippa G. Samworth is a partner at Dutton Brock and her area of practice is in insurance defence (Accident Benefits), as well as providing Mediation and Arbitration services. Miss Samworth has a number of achievements and was retained by the Ministry of Finance of Ontario as a consultant to provide analysis and technical advice to the Ministry on its preparation and drafting of the new Automobile Insurance Legislation: Bill 59 and its regulations.
In May 1997, Philippa was appointed to the Minister's Committee for Designated Assessment Centres and chaired that Committee in 1998, 2000 and 2001-2004.
In March of 2004 Miss Samworth was again retained by the Minister of Finance to conduct stakeholder consultations and provide advice and recommendation on proposals to replace the DAC system.
Philippa is the recipient of numerous awards including:

In 2002 Philippa was the first recipient of the prestigious Canadian Defence Lawyers' Lee Samis award for excellence.
On April 27, 2006 she became the first recipient of the OBA Award of Excellence in Insurance Law. Philippa has also been recognized in "Best Lawyers in Canada" annually since 2008.
In September, 2014 she received The Advocates' Society Medal, which is the highest expression of esteem that the Society can convey to one of our members. It is intended to honour those who have demonstrated clearly their pre-eminence as counsel and who are acknowledged unequivocally as leaders of the bar; who have been dedicated and active members of the Society, and who have made a significant contribution to the profession of law and to the wellbeing of the community at large.

Raffaella completed her articles with Dutton Brock and has joined the firm as an Associate following her call to the bar in 2019. Raffaella is developing a broad practice in Defendant litigation in areas of general negligence, medical malpractice, occupier's liability and product liability.
Raffaella completed her BA at the University of Toronto with a specialist degree in history. She then completed her JD at the University of Windsor Faculty of Law and was called to the bar in June 2019.
Ray is a partner at Dutton Brock. His practice includes acting on behalf of defendants and plaintiffs in a wide variety of matters including automobile, general liability, occupiers' liability, professional liability, disability and life insurance claims.
Ray has extensive trial experience throughout Ontario in all levels of Court. Ray has been a speaker at many programs and seminars related to civil litigation matters and has taught at the Bar Admissions Course. He is a member of the Advocates Society, the Canadian Bar Association and the Medical Legal Society of Toronto.

Richard Hepner started his legal career with Dutton Brock LLP as an articling student in 1993. He remained with the firm as an associate and went on to become a partner in 2002. He became a co-managing partner in 2019.

Wayne has been a member of the firm since 1979. He is recognized by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in Civil Litigation; and is recognized annually by Lexpert in the field of commercial litigation, and by Who's Who Legal, in the field of insurance and reinsurance.
Wayne's practice includes the defence of a broad range of claims including: commercial general liability, personal injury, medical negligence, products liability including medical devices, historical sexual abuse matters, defamation, professional negligence, directors and officers liability and machinery endorsement claims. He has acted in the defence of class actions, including claims relating to products, medical devices, tainted food and claims under the Securities Act.
In addition, Wayne has been retained as an agent of the Federal Department of Justice to defend cases on behalf of various federal government departments including: the RCMP, CRA, Correctional Services, Indigenous and Northern Affairs, Transport and Immigration.

Saher completed her B.A. at York University, following which she obtained her P1 license and worked at a personal injury firm for a short time before traveling to Queensland, Australia where she obtain her Juris Doctor Degree from Bond University.
Samantha joined Dutton Brock in 2021 after completing her articles and practicing for several years at a well-established plaintiff-side firm in Toronto.
Samantha has a passion for litigation and is developing an insurance defence practice in the areas of personal injury, tort, general negligence, product liability, and occupier's liability.

Spencer is a strong, creative advocate who is committed to achieving his client's goals in a cost-effective manner. Stephen A. Mullings is an insurance defence litigator. He was called to the Bar in 2001 after receiving his LL.B from the University of Windsor and an Honours B.A. from the University of Toronto, with a Specialist in Political Science and a Major in Philosophy. Stephen articled and served as an associate before becoming a partner at Dutton Brock LLP in 2009, and became a co-managing partner in 2019. Susan was a Director of the Advocates' Society (TAS), Co-Chair of its Personal Injury Practice Group, member of its Civil Trials Task Force and is a current certified TAS skills instructor in adult education. She has been selected by lawyer peers for membership the International Association of Defense Counsel, Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel and Association of Defense and Trial Attorneys. Susan serves as the Chair of the DRI - Lawyers Representing Business' Center for Law and Public Policy Globalization Working Group focusing on law profession regulation, privacy law and law-tech initiatives. As a Director of DRI (2014-2017), Susan was the Board Liaison for the International Committee and Chair of DRI for Life - the committee on lawyer wellness. She served as the DRI General Council Representative for Canada (2011-2014). Susan is a member of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers, the Canadian Association for Legal Ethics, and the Toronto Civil Bench and Bar Committee. Susan has addressed the Risk and Insurance Managers Society (Canada) National Conference, the Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association, the Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators, as well as the Ontario Master's Association.
She has authored legal journal articles for the Annual Review of Civil Litigation, the Advocates' Quarterly and articles for DRI's For the Defense magazine and The Voice online newsletter. She has lectured in Canada, the United States and in Europe to lawyers and trade associations on tort, insurance and procedural law, privacy legislation, women in the legal profession, diversity & inclusion, lawyer regulation, law profession reform and lawyers' wellness topics. She is the recipient of the 2022 DRI Fred H. Sievert Award recognizing an Outstanding Defense Bar Leader, the 2021 Ontario Bar Association's Joel Kuchar Award for Professionalism and Civility and the 2021 Canadian Defence Lawyers Philippa G. Samworth Award for Advancement of Women in the Legal Profession.
Education
Susan holds a Masters of Law in Civil Litigation from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University (2008). Originally from Fredericton, she obtained her LL.B. in 1994 from University of New Brunswick. Before that she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History (with Distinction, Mention: Francais) in 1991 from Carleton University. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 1996. Susan has completed The Advocates' Society Certified Skills Instructor training.
Awards
Susan is honoured to have received the 2021 Ontario Bar Association Joel Kuchar Award for Professionalism and Civility, the 2021 Canadian Defence Lawyers Philippa G. Samworth Award for the Advancement of Women in the Legal Profession, the 2022 DRI - Lawyers Representing Business Fred H. Sievert Award as an Outstanding Defense Bar Leader as well as the DRI State Leadership Award in 2013. Susan was awarded the Davidson Dunton Memorial Scholarship for Academic Achievement during her undergraduate degree in 1990.
Teri articled with Dutton Brock and joined the firm as an Associate following her call to the Ontario Bar in June of 2011. Her practice includes the defence of a broad range of claims including: commercial general liability; personal injury; medical negligence; products liability; occupiers' liability; motor vehicle accident litigation; defamation; and historical sexual abuse matters. She has also acted for Plaintiffs and brought subrogated claims on behalf of insurers. Teri has appeared in various levels of courts in Ontario, including the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Ontario Divisional Court, and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Tribunal.
Education
Teri earned her Honours Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Political Science from the University of Toronto, where she graduated with Distinction in 2007. She went on to obtain her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law in 2010 and was called to the bar in 2011.
Awards
Teri was awarded the Univeristy of Toronto Letter Award in 2007 for significant and diverse contributions to improving the quality of student life. She has also received various bursaries and admission scholarships from the University of Toronto and University of Windsor.
W. Rosalind Eastmond joined Dutton Brock in 2013. Her practice is focused on insurance defence litigation in first party accident benefit claims. She has made appearances before the Licence Appeal Tribunal, Financial Service Commission of Ontario and before the Superior Court of Justice. Rosalind takes a keen interest in claims relating to coverage, priority disputes, loss transfer and misrepresentation of claims.
Rosalind received her LLB from The University of the West Indies in 1986, attended Sir Hugh Wooding Law School and was called to the Barbados Bar in 1990. For several years, she has represented clients at all levels of Court in Barbados in Criminal defence. Her practice in Barbados also focused on civil litigation including Tort personal injuries, Family law, Estate and Succession Law. Rosalind received the Federation of Law Societies of Canada National Accreditation and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2012. Before joining Dutton Brock, Rosalind practiced at a boutique Personal Injury firm where she gained experience in Plaintiff accident benefits claims, Tort vehicular negligence and Occupiers Liability personal injury claims.
