In 1988 Mark commenced his articles with Lee Fireman Regan, initially doing tort work, before moving into the area of Statutory Accident Benefits. Since that time Mark has developed a specialization in inter-company disputes, addressing both loss transfer and priority matters both at private arbitration and on appeal. Philippa G. Samworth is a partner at Dutton Brock and her area of practice is in insurance defence (Accident Benefits), as well as providing Mediation and Arbitration services. Miss Samworth has a number of achievements and was retained by the Ministry of Finance of Ontario as a consultant to provide analysis and technical advice to the Ministry on its preparation and drafting of the new Automobile Insurance Legislation: Bill 59 and its regulations. In May 1997, Philippa was appointed to the Minister's Committee for Designated Assessment Centres and chaired that Committee in 1998, 2000 and 2001-2004. In March of 2004 Miss Samworth was again retained by the Minister of Finance to conduct stakeholder consultations and provide advice and recommendation on proposals to replace the DAC system. Philippa is the recipient of numerous awards including: First recipient of the Lee Samis Award for Excellence (Canadian Defence Lawyers); First recipient of the Ontario Bar Association Award for Excellence in Insurance Law; The Medical-Legal Society Award; The Advocate's Society Medal. Stephen is a Co-Chair of the Student Programme at Dutton Brock. He is involved in various legal associations. Stephen is a Past President and former Director of the Toronto Lawyers Association. He has served as a member of the Toronto Bench and Bar Committee and as a panel member of Case Management Master Competitions. Stephen is also a member of the Advocates' Society, the Ontario Bar Association, the Defence Research Institute and Canadian Defence Lawyers. Stephen received his Honours B.A. in 1995 from the University of Toronto where he specialized in Political Science and majored in Philosophy. In 1999, he was granted his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Windsor. He was called to the Bar in 2001.

Stephen is a Partner at Dutton Brock with a background in engineering and business. He has a diverse insurance defence practice with an emphasis on resolving complex product liability, general negligence, occupiers' liability, construction, motor vehicle, professional negligence, environmental and class action disputes. Stephen has trial, motion, application and appeal experience before all levels of court in Ontario and has appeared before several administrative tribunals. Education Stephen was called to the Ontario bar in 2009. He received his J.D. from the University of Toronto in 2008. Prior to attending law school, Stephen graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering Science with distinction from the University of Western Ontario and an Honours of Business Administration with distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business. Susan Gunter has been a partner at Dutton Brock LLP since 2002. She holds an LL.M in Civil Litigation from Osgoode Hall Law School. Her litigation practice in defence of domestic and international corporations and insurers focuses on professional and general liability casualty claims. Susan is recognized in the 2023 Edition of Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of Insurance Law and in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory as Repeatedly Recommended for Personal Injury - Represents Defendants. She has appeared before federal and provincial tribunals and at all levels of court in Ontario as well as the Federal Court of Canada. She has tried motor vehicle, regulatory negligence, insurance coverage, civil sexual assault, occupier's liability, marine law, disability insurance and medical malpractice cases. Susan is Past President of the Canadian Defence Lawyers SLDO (2014-2017), CDL Director 2004-2017, a current member of the CDL Public Policy Secretariat, Women's Caucus and Diversity & Inclusion Committee as well as a founding Director of the Canadian Defence Lawyers Foundation. Teri articled with Dutton Brock and joined the firm as an Associate following her call to the Ontario Bar in June of 2011. Her practice includes the defence of a broad range of claims including: commercial general liability; personal injury; medical negligence; products liability; occupiers' liability; motor vehicle accident litigation; defamation; and historical sexual abuse matters. She has also acted for Plaintiffs and brought subrogated claims on behalf of insurers. Teri has appeared in various levels of courts in Ontario, including the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Ontario Divisional Court, and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Tribunal. Education Teri earned her Honours Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Political Science from the University of Toronto, where she graduated with Distinction in 2007. W. Rosalind Eastmond joined Dutton Brock in 2013. Her practice is focused on insurance defence litigation in first party accident benefit claims. She has made appearances before the Licence Appeal Tribunal, Financial Service Commission of Ontario and before the Superior Court of Justice. Rosalind takes a keen interest in claims relating to coverage, priority disputes, loss transfer and misrepresentation of claims. Rosalind received her LLB from The University of the West Indies in 1986, attended Sir Hugh Wooding Law School and was called to the Barbados Bar in 1990. For several years, she has represented clients at all levels of Court in Barbados in Criminal defence. Her practice in Barbados also focused on civil litigation including Tort personal injuries, Family law, Estate and Succession Law. Rosalind received the Federation of Law Societies of Canada National Accreditation and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2012. Before joining Dutton Brock, Rosalind practiced at a boutique Personal Injury firm where she gained experience in Plaintiff accident benefits claims, Tort vehicular negligence and Occupiers Liability personal injury claims.
