SECMET

SecMet (Pty) Ltd was formed in February 1996. The history of the company dates back to 1978 when the Metallurgical and Corrosion Services Division of Sasol was established in Secunda to provide a service to Sasol Two and Three, currently known as Sasol East and West, which were then under construction. In 1989 the division was transferred to Sastech, the Technology and Research arm of the Sasol Group of Companies. It operated as a business unit within Sastech until February 1996 when SecMet was formed as the result of a management buy-out with the co-operation and consent of Sastech Management. SecMet was bought by MegChem to complement their existing consulting engineering services in 1997. In 2017, under MegChem Holdings, SecMet split off from MegChem in order to focus on and operate in their own unique areas of expertise within the metallurgical and quality engineering arena.
