ABINGTON VETERINARY CENTER - Key Persons

Dr. Cheryl Lagana

Hello everyone! My name is Cheryl Lagana. I am originally from NEPA and am glad to be home. After a lifelong interest in science and animals, it was a natural fit to go into veterinary medicine. I carried this interest with me to the University of Scranton, with a major in Biology, and then to the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine (I-L-L-I-N-I!) where I graduated in 2009. I have been working in Northeastern Pennsylvania since graduation. It is probably the simplest statement but it captures exactly how I feel: I love this profession. It is an honor to be allowed to share the bond between my clients and their pets. I joined Abington Veterinary Center after working here part time in 2012. The people who work here are some of the kindest people I've met. They love what they do and they love our amazing clients. I would like to extend an invitation to you to visit our practice. I currently live in Drums, PA with my 2 cats (Capra and Dud Lee). When I'm not at the office, I love to read and make chocolates. Education: University of Illinois

Dr. Colin Gibson

Hello! My name is Colin Gibson and I'm from Drums, Pennsylvania. Both of my parents are retired physical therapists and my sister is a teacher. I originally went to the University of Scranton and obtained my English degree in 2009. I worked at a pharmaceutical warehouse for a year and a half, then had a desk job at a bank for three years. During this time, I realised what I truly wanted to do was to go back to school to become a veterinarian. I started working here at Abington Veterinary Center as an assistant while I earned my degree in Biology. During the last year of obtaining that degree, I proposed to my girlfriend and applied to veterinary school. She said yes, and I was accepted at the University of Glasgow. I finished my final exams on May 20 and got married on May 27. Just a few whirlwind months later we moved to Glasgow with our dog and three cats. We fell in love with the city, and Glasgow quickly became our home. That was in 2016, and after five wonderful years, I graduated from the University of Glasgow in June 2021and moved back to Pennsylvania. I am beyond excited to be back working at Abington Veterinary Center. Everyone working here is fantastic and has been very supportive of me since I started. I love working at Abington Veterinary Center, and I'm looking forward to meeting more of our great clients! Education: University of Glasgow, Scotland

We appreciate you visiting the Abington Veterinary Center web site. As the Hospital Manager I would like to introduce you to our team and our hospital. We hope you enjoy reading our staffs personal bio's and looking through the webpage. The first veterinary hospital I worked for was in 1984, it was located in the quaint little town of Hatboro in Montgomery County, PA. Besides my position as hospital manager here at Abington Veterinary Center I am also the co-founder, writer and editor for www.thebordercollieinquisitor.com. My goal is to eventually have all my stories compiled into a book for everyone to enjoy. I enjoy helping owners to train their dogs and specialize in behavioral issues. I'm also a member of the Scranton chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution. On a personal note, my husband and I have three children and two beautiful grandchildren, we couldn't be more proud. I enjoy training my border collies and competing in sheepherding. I also rescue, train and re-home border collies and border collies mixes.
