Michael J. Gurevitz

Michael has been diving most of his adult life, and took his first diving class as a college student. Michael began working and teaching at National Diving Center in 1993, and has been a PADI Instructor for over 24 years. Certified to teach almost two dozen specialties through PADI, TDI, SDI, and DAN, Rescue Diver and professional-level training remain his favorites to teach. An avid wreck diver, Michael prefers diving off the US East Coast, in the St. Lawrence River, and in the Great Lakes.

Ronald D Whalen

Ronald started his diving career on the Big Island in Hawaii after referral training with National Diving Center. His brother was on a family vacation and suggested that he should fulfill his childhood dream of scuba diving. By day two he was hooked and ended up diving every day of his Big Island vacation. Almost immediately upon returning to Silver Spring, Maryland; he started his Advanced Open Water and Enriched Air Specialty, his diving career progressed steadily to professional status in 2012. He joined Yovani in opening Surface Interval Corp dba National Diving Center in 2018, it's been an amazing journey!

Todd Passey

Todd's passion for diving began when he was a young child. After years of begging and pleading his Mother gave in and allowed Todd to get certified in 1991 with National Diving Center. Clearly he was hooked after the first pool session and the journey began. Initially, Todd obtained the rank of Master Diver with NAUI. Since then Todd has continued his growth and completed the PADI curriculum from Open Water to Master Diver continuing on to becoming an Assistant Instructor. When not trying to find a way back to the Bahamas he can be found assisting with classes at NDC.

Yovani Soto

Yovani is a native Washingtonian who grew up in the neighborhoods around the shop. In 2006, Yovani and his wife obtained their Open Water Diver certification with us and dove on their honeymoon in Italy. A few years later, Yovani joined us on one of our dive trips to the Outer Banks and decided that he wanted to become a dive professional. From 2010-2013, Yovani worked his way through the ranks culminating in his PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certification. Yovani, like all of our staff, is passionate about scuba and is looking forward to share his expertise, experiences, and knowledge. Yovani loves to dive in all sorts of environments including Puerto Rico, Mexico, North Carolina, California, and Florida.
