Dr. Lisa A. Wines

A passionate advocate, a professional educator, and an eloquent leader are only a few of the qualities that describe the service and knowledge of Dr. Lisa A. Wines. She is a proponent of positive mental health that promotes growth and advancement, especially in leadership. Not only as a service provider, Dr. Lisa A. Wines also helms the curriculum that educates and mentors upcoming mental health professionals. She transcends expectations in the development of educational leadership counseling. Helping school districts promote advanced training for their administration and counselors, she provides much research and results for effective and trending counseling methods. A devout supporter of education, Dr. Lisa A. Wines began her educational career at Grambling State University with a Bachelor's degree in English.Dr. Wines was a former member of the Orchesis Dance Company (1994-1998), where she performed in Superbowl XXXII (https://youtu.be/oR9K_QjJzZ4?si=gqX3bCaZXqHDC2YB). She recently was featured in an ESPN (Plus +) documentary titled, Why Not Us. In Episode 7- Happy Homecoming, Dr. Wines supportively provided commentary on a dancer's talented abilities. Houston, Texas. Shortly thereafter, she completed a Master's degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. As you can see, she believes firmly in the quality of education received by matriculation and study completion at a Historically Black College University (HBCU). Not ceasing there, she advanced her educational career at a Primarily White Institution (PWI), Sam Houston University, receiving a CACREP-Accredited Doctorate Degree in Counselor Education. Her upbringing in the diverse geographical region of Southern California, along with her educational and professional pursuits, all serve as catalysts for her becoming a well-endowed author of several books and publications. Dr. Lisa A Wines is a tenured full-professor, licensed professional counselor supervisor for the state of Texas, and a certified school counselor. She was a school counselor for over 10 years, held memberships in many professional counseling organizations, all while serving as a university faculty member, and/or an adjunct professor. She gained initial experience in private practice and behavioral hospital psychiatry as a PRN. Dr. Wines serves locally in her church as a Sunday School Teacher; an adjunct to the broadcast and media ministry, along with facilitating the work of the liturgical dance team. She invests in human capital, by engaging in the training and development of graduate students. She started the Hands of Grace Intern Program, which aids in developing aspiring counselors. Internationally endowed, Dr, Lisa A. Wines has taught various online and face-to-face counseling courses- as far as Asia and Australia. She has participated in the development of study abroad programs, which inevitably heightens cultural awareness and a true appreciation for our existing similarities and differences - both nationally and internationally.
