Adam Reed

Adam Reed is a Structural Engineer and Facility Condition Assessment (FCA) Team Leader for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) contracts. With more than 20 years of experience, Reed is responsible for facility condition assessments in the subject areas of structure, building envelope, interiors, site/grounds and accessibility. He also reviews structural engineering and architectural plans, conducts structural engineering investigations, assists clients with project scope development and creates building design standards. Prior to joining PSFEI in 2010, Reed was employed by RTKL Associates in Baltimore and worked as a contract design engineer. During his PSFEI career, Reed has performed hundreds of design reviews and facility condition assessments. He has also participated as a design engineer for General Services Administration (GSA) and Department of Defense (DOD) projects that required threat protection design. Reed holds a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering from Penn State. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and Maryland.

Antonette Mitterando

Antonette Mitterando is an engineering manager with the Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEI). She is responsible for providing leadership, day-to-day direction, and professional mentoring for PSFEI's diverse team of mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers, and support staff. She is also responsible for providing briefings, written reports and education presentations as part of short courses and workshops. Prior to joining PSFEI, Mitterando was employed as a managing member of Quality Alternatives Architecture & Engineering. She is a Subject Matter Expert for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) within the pharmaceutical and hospital regulated industries. Mitterando holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Rutgers University and a Master of Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickenson. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in New Jersey and Pennsylvania; a registered architect in New Jersey; and is LEED AP BD+C and ProFM certified.

Devin Pennebaker

Devin Pennebaker, C.E.P. is the Energy Program Manager for the Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEI), specializing in supply-side energy economics and the procurement of electricity and natural gas commodity for PSFEI's clients. In addition to overseeing all electricity and natural gas procurement activities for over 10,000 client accounts, he manages the business requirements and works closely with PSFEI's IT manager to support PSFEI's proprietary Energy Risk Management Application (ERMA). He also provides leadership, guidance, day-to-day direction, and professional mentoring to PSFEI's energy management consultants and data analysts. He serves as a subject matter expert in the wholesale and retail energy markets. Pennebaker is a graduate of Penn State with a Bachelor of Science in Energy Business and Finance. He is a Certified Energy Procurement Professional through the Association of Energy Engineers.

Erik Sohn

Erik Sohn, P.E. is a Structural Engineer and the Facility Condition Assessment (FCA) Team Leader for the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) contract. With more than 19 years of assessment and forensic investigation experience, Sohn joined PSFEI in 2015. His responsibilities include structural, thermal performance, and building enclosure condition assessments of new and historically significant buildings and structures. He has extensive experience in the assessment and forensic investigation of building enclosure and structural failures. Prior to joining PSFEI, Sohn was employed by Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc., where his work included the investigation, repair, and design of various building types to address bulk rainwater penetration, condensation, and moisture-related deterioration of above-and below-grade building enclosure materials and systems. Additionally, he served on a team of engineers and architects that utilized industrial rope access techniques to survey the exterior, and interior, of buildings throughout the country. Sohn holds a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering and a Master of Engineering in Architectural Engineering, both from Penn State. He is ProFM certified and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Gregory Ruberto

Greg Ruberto, P.E. is Assistant Director of the Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEI). He is responsible for development and oversight of the Facility Condition Assessment program, which conducts a wide range of assessments covering over one million square feet per year in the primary and secondary education, military, and transportation facility markets. Prior to joining PSFEI in 2004, Ruberto worked for 15 years in the consulting engineering market, where part of his time included his tenure as Vice-President of Civilsmith Engineering, Inc.

Paul Moser

Paul Moser, P.E., is a mechanical engineer with the Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEl) with a primary focus on central heating plants. Paul returns to PSFEI after serving as the superintendent of steam services at Penn State University Park for more than 20 years. His background and experience include defense nuclear engineering support; utility power consulting; and wide range of knowledge on steam systems, fluid systems, boiler control and instrumentation systems, fuels and fuel handling systems, and all other equipment associated with heating plants. He is well versed in staffing, maintenance, operations, safety, and project work associated with central plants and distribution. Other areas of expertise include boiler emissions and air quality regulations, troubleshooting, data acquisition systems, and data analysis. Moser holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Old Dominion University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania.

Sophia Mazurczyk

Sophia Mazurczyk is an IT manager for the Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEI). Her responsibilities include financial planning and budget management for the IT group, oversight of the software development projects using SDLC, and management of daily IT operations and staff. Mazurczyk also provides technical leadership to teams, ensures continuous quality products/services improvements, develops user and technical documentation, and manages internal and external technology-related communication with clients and vendors. Mazurczyk joined PSFEI in 2011. Prior to joining PSFEI, Mazurczyk held a number of technical, management, and consulting positions. As a consultant, her primary role was to interface with C-level management at large corporations to bring about technological advancements and business improvements within their operations. Mazurczyk holds a Master of Science in information sciences - cybersecurity and information assurance from Penn State; a Bachelor of Science in management information systems from the University of Massachusetts; and an Associate of Science in business computer programming from Bergen Community College. She is a certified PMI Project Management Professional (PMP). She has earned a Penn State Post Baccalaureate Certificate in information systems cybersecurity and the ITIL Foundation. She also holds certificates in Scrum Master, Advance SQL, SharePoint and electronic records management.

Wayne Macafee

Wayne Macafee is a mechanical engineer with the Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEl) with a primary focus on central heating plants. His background and experience include 12 years as a nuclear-trained United States Navy submarine officer, 1½ years as a training developer and instructor for radiological controls with the United States Department of Energy, 6 years as a co-gen plant process engineer at International Paper's Lock Haven, Pennsylvania mill, and more than 20 years with PSFEI. Macafee brings a wide range of knowledge on steam systems, fluid systems, boiler control and instrumentation systems, fuels and fuel handling systems, and all other equipment associated with heating plants. Other areas of expertise include boiler emissions and air quality regulations, troubleshooting, data acquisition systems, and data analysis. Macafee holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering in nuclear engineering from Penn State.
