Ryan Johnson is a commercial photographer based in San Francisco, California. Born in South Dakota, he first used a camera when he was in primary school as a story telling device to make short films with his peers. Around then, he began to look deeply into the works of great filmmakers like Andrei Tarkovsky, Federico Fellini, Michelangelo Antonioni, Ingmar Bergman, and Robert Bresson; All of which seemed to be exploring the outer surroundings and inner landscapes of the human condition. At a subconscious level these influencers informed him that nothing should be considered "out of bounds" in his art practice.
Ryan's pursuit of the perfect image has taken him around the world for more than a decade working with several different brands. The timeless quality and artistry of his photographs are born of a keen eye for the many forms his subjects take. He is always climbing his way towards being his very best and takes on every project with a fresh perspective, deep curiosity, and a willingness to test and explore. Ryan enjoys delighting clients with his solutions and enjoys a diverse, multidisciplinary career.
Ryan takes full responsibility for both the capture and digital compositing of images with great efficiency and ease. No matter the size of the budget, Ryan is involved from the pre-production meeting all the way through post-production and delivery and manages the full creative team to lead it towards a roaring finish line and bring his vision to life.
