Currently composite materials are used in a wide variety of industries. Aerospace industry has made significant advances in this field. Composites are thermoset plastics which is formed when resin matrix with reinforcent fiber embedded within. Epoxy resin matrix is formed when the epoxy is mixed with hardner material in a specific ratio. When it is mixed, an exothermic reaction takes place and a hardened surface is formed. In a conventional construction, fabric plies are laid out on the surface of a backing tool to form the contour of the design of the part. Plies are stacked up to form thickness. Epoxy and hardner are mixed in specific ratio (Available from the manufacturer) and poured immediately. It is covered with a felt cloth and bagged.
