SHEKINAH LAW - Key Persons
Arieta Leweni is an Associate with Shekinah Law. Arieta graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 2019 from the University of the South Pacific and in 2020 she was awarded her Professional Diploma in Legal Practice from the same University. She was admitted to the High Court of Fiji in February, 2020. Prior to this, Arieta had worked in the Civil Service and private sector in Fiji. Arieta has about 15 years experience in Banking work. Arieta started her Internship with Shekinah Law in July 2020, before she was given her current position in October, 2020.
Laurel Vaurasi is the Principal and Founder of Shekinah Law. Laurel's work experience commenced at the Native Land Trust Board as a law clerk before her studies then work experience at the Crown office in Queensland in 1996, and also in the private sector in New South Wales, in 1997. In 1998 Laurel moved back to Fiji and joined a private practice focusing on Conveyancing and Litigation Matters until 2002. She joined as an in house counsel for the Carpenters Fiji Ltd group attending predominantly to their finance and employment matters. Later in 2003 Laurel joined a private firm and became a partner. Laurel worked on a number of big investment development work in Fiji, as well commercial work. In 2007 she headed the Legal Department for the Superannuation Fund in Fiji based at the Suva office before opening Shekinah Law. Laurel set up Shekinah Law in 2009. Laurel has over 15 years of civil litigation, family law, commercial law, conveyancing, contract law, torts and criminal litigation experience. Laurel is also an accredited Mediator by the Singapore Mediation Centre.
