Job Titles:
- Principal Data and Analytics Consultant
Experience: I've been doing cool stuff with data for over 10 years in both vendor and client facing roles: 4 years with Qlik and 6 years with Deloitte.
My Role at Acumen BI: I'm a Principal Data and Analytics Consultant for Acumen BI. My focus is providing value to our customers and ensuring high quality project delivery.
When I'm not working: I'm either hanging out with my wife and son (2 years old), or riding/racing mountain bikes. I also enjoy a bit of DIY building projects around the home.
Job Titles:
- Data and Analytics Support Engineer
Experience: Prior to Acumen BI I was a Data Analyst at a Tech Start up in Oncology Research. Prior to that I was working as a chemist in method development for a Pharmaceutical Company.
Experience: I would describe myself as someone who's passionate about data and has more than a decade's experience in the data space, most of it is in the geographical asset tracking with high-volume transactional data. I have extensive experience in database design, administration and presentation in the Microsoft space.
My Role at Acumen BI: I'm a data engineer for Acumen BI, where we work on world-class technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, Qlik and DataRobot. I see every day as an opportunity to learn and improve. I enjoy finding solutions to problems.
When I'm not working: I love spending time with my family and sharing new experiences with them. I enjoy reading suspense thrillers. I absolutely love Star Wars, Superhero movies, and recently Dune as well. I'm an avid gamer, generally in the hardcore survival games genre.
Experience: Marketing is my forte, particularly strategy and understanding customer profiles and journeys. I've been incredibly privileged to work in a range of industry's and diverse workplaces with some great people - including the team at Acumen BI!
My Role at Acumen BI: What makes businesses want to partner with Acumen BI? What makes Acumen BI so unique? Complimentary word of mouth referrals are testament to the efforts of the team and I'm tasked with the job of sharing the great work the Acumen BI team do.
When I'm not working: I'm gushing over my toddler (I'm that mum) and enjoying fresh air, good food and yarns with family and friends.
Job Titles:
- Senior Project Coordinator
Experience: Before joining Acumen BI, I was an event manager, managing large corporate events for a wide variety of clients. After years in the events industry, I switched to project management last year, and I began studying part time in 2021 to aid the transition. So far, I'm loving learning about all aspects of the project management industry and putting my organisational skills to good use.
My Role at Acumen BI: I joined Acumen BI in October 2022 as Project and Operations Coordinator. I love not only helping our clients complete their projects successfully, but also supporting the amazing team at Acumen BI with the Operations part of my role.
When I'm not working: You can either find me on the netball or tennis court or relaxing on the beach. Before moving home in 2019, I took a few years out of my career to work on Super Yachts all over the world. It was an amazing experience, and being paid to travel the world was pretty incredible.
Experience: I worked as a Data Engineer for 2.5 years for a start up in Singapore that used big data and machine learning to deliver market insights for consumer goods. In that role I leveraged cloud technologies to transform and analyse large semi-structured datasets.
My Role at Acumen BI: I have assisted Placemakers and Mico with their data warehousing needs, allowing them to automatically create reports using data from multiple sources. It's satisfying making time consuming manual processes more automated and streamlined, and it's exciting to discover all the clever things the latest cloud technologies can do!
When I'm not working: You can find me playing strategy games, mountain biking and spending time with family.

- Project and Operations Coordinator
Experience: After completing a Bachelor in Health Sciences, majoring in Public Health, I was an intern at Manukau DHB and then transitioned into the field of clinical research. Throughout my studies I always had a keen interest to work in data consultancy and this is my first step in that direction. I'm very glad I'm able to use my prior knowledge and experience here, at Acumen BI since we also work with many key health players in NZ.
My Role at Acumen BI: As a Project and Operations Coordinator my role revolves around the project team, internal operations, and resource management. I'm basically here with an intention to make other people's lives easier.
When I'm not working: I'm quite a hobby enthusiast. You can expect me to be playing music, ball-room dancing, tattooing, learning more code, lifting weights and gaming. I love learning new things and having a good time.
Experience: 10 years at Trustpower - 7 years as a leader in the Analyst Community; 3 years building the future data platform in Snowflake + dbt.

- Data and Analytics Practice Lead
Experience: I've been an experienced analyst since 2010. My real world client side experience ensures Acumen BI can relate to the challenges your business is facing. My professional career has focused on using data to enable organisations to drive change through evidence based decision-making.
My Role at Acumen BI: I'm the Data and Analytics Practice Lead for Acumen BI and are lucky enough to play a part in a wide range of projects across our customer base. The main things I enjoy are being part of an incredibly talented team and the wide range of people and organisations I get to speak to on a daily basis.
When I'm not working: You can find me at the beach with the family or running in the hills to get as far away from tech as I can!

- Senior Analytics Consultant
Experience: I've been working in IT since the 90's and have worked in various industries including health, banking, retail and manufacturing.
Experience: I was the principal data architect at the Ministry of Health before joining Acumen BI. I've been working with data and analytics, in particular health data since 2007. I was privileged to be a Qlik Luminary in 2020.
My Role at Acumen BI: I'm a principal consultant in the analytics delivery space. I've worked with Sky TV, helping them increase the value of their data and analytics function. A good day for me is one where our customers not only get data and information that is visual and relevant, but they're able to make full use of it to make good decisions. I really enjoy the variety of work with the chance to work on the different facets of data and analytics.
When I'm not working: I take photos, particularly street and landscape photography.

- Senior Technical Project Manager
Experience: I've two decades of experience across 6 industries using technology, pragmatic delivery practices and a people centric management style to bring products and ideas to life.
My Role at Acumen BI: I'm a Senior Technical Project Manager and work closely with our customers and teams to deliver high quality solutions, while providing good practices that adapt to our customer needs.
When I'm not working: I'm hanging out with my dog, Crumpet. I'm very passionate about coffee, watchmaking and music. Often trying to find a way to do all three simultaneously.
Experience: I've been working with Qlik since 2007. I've worked in various sectors such as Wholesale, Financial Services, Health, and Telecommunications. I moved to New Zealand from the UK in 2018 and prior to that was working as the Qlik Centre of Excellence Lead for Vodafone Group.
My Role at Acumen BI: I lead the Acumen BI team of Analytics consultants alongside leading Analytics projects for some of our customers. I love learning about the latest changes in the technologies we use, and how those changes can benefit our customers. I worked on the COVID-19 vaccinations programme at the Ministry of Health, and I particularly enjoyed seeing how our data was being used to inform the public and drive decision making.
When I'm not working: When I'm not working, you'll mostly find me at my F45 gym or swimming in the ocean (or the pool in winter as I am a wimp!)
Experience: I graduated from Victoria University with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Computer Science. After graduating I started at Spark as a data engineer in the data operations squad. I enjoyed working in the cloud and so I moved to data DevOps engineer role in the cloud data platforms squad.
My Role at Acumen BI: I started at Acumen BI as a data engineer, building data pipelines for the COVID response at the Ministry of Health. In 2021 I was promoted to senior data engineer, and took on a role as the cloud data warehouse operations lead at Ministry of Health. Since joining Acumen BI I've really enjoyed the personalised approach to skills and career development.
When I'm not working: I enjoy painting, drawing, and reading. During the winter, I'm an avid snowboarder. I also like to work on personal coding projects, I especially enjoy creating software related to personal finance or computer graphics.

- Data Engineering Delivery Lead
Experience: It's opportunities through data that have always excited me. I worked for Tradition in London, one of the world's largest financial and commodities brokers, providing time sensitive data and information. Back in NZ I joined the Department of Labour to help implement their new data warehouse using SAS and SQL Server, furthering my experience with data into ETL and data warehousing. In my next role I experienced numerous innovative and practical techniques for data warehouse development including Lawrence Corr's business entity and attribute modelling methodology, and dimensional and data vault data modelling frameworks, and a broad range of corporate and government clients. I returned to government working for the data warehousing team at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, which must have the most diverse portfolio of any ministry, managing context and competing priorities.
My Role at Acumen BI: I've been provided an opportunity to help lead and collaborate with a team of highly motivated, innovative, and capable people at Acumen BI as the data engineering delivery lead. As the delivery lead, I endeavour to provide experts that will support and enable successful outcomes to our clients, while enabling our team to learn, develop standards and best practices, and provide support to each other as a team.
When I'm not working: I enjoy being with and supporting my family and friends. As a family, we love to travel and experience various cultures, sites, and adventures. I enjoy "lazy man's" mountain biking on my e-bike, American style BBQ, brewing beer, Kenpo Karate, and board games.

- Data and Analytics Support Engineer
Experience: I've just completed a Bachelor of Science with a major in Computer Science from the University of Auckland. This is my first job in the industry so I'm grateful to Acumen BI for taking me on.
Experience: I've worked in the data and analytics industry since 2006. Most of my experience has been in consulting, doing end-to-end implementations of data solutions in complex projects. Before joining Acumen BI, I worked as a senior data engineer and senior consultant in several industries; agribusiness, capital management, public sector, banking, and others.
My Role at Acumen BI: As a senior data engineer I have experience in data modelling, data integration, and industry knowledge. Together with my attention to detail and analytical skills my goal is to help customers build data and analytics solutions that can be trusted. Having the opportunity to have a focus on dbt and Snowflake is also very exciting.
When I'm not working: I love sports, I've played football and volleyball, enjoyed mountain biking, and even tried Brazilian jiu-jitsu. In recent years, I've joined a sailing racing team - part of my long-distance sailing voyage dream. I enjoy movies (perhaps more than I should). As a family we enjoy hiking adventures - one day we might try one of the Great Walks. I also learnt how to love cricket, which was boring at first but not anymore.
Experience: Since 2015, I have been working as an analytics consultant helping organisations with their data analytics. Prior to my role at Acumen BI, I worked for a consulting company in London which provided me the opportunity to work with organisations across various sectors throughout Europe, the US and Africa, such as financial services, supply chain and medical technologies.
My Role at Acumen BI: I've worked on projects with several health organisations and within the construction sector. Not only have I continued to grow my skills developing analytics in Qlik, but also been provided with the help and support to develop in all areas of being a great consultant.
When I'm not working: When I'm not working, I enjoy listening to music and collecting vinyl.
Experience: I've been doing testing and big data engineering since 2008. I've worked in the field of consumer electronics (Apple, Philips, Motorola, NDS, Nagravision, Verizon), banking, and financial (CapitalOne, FCA) domains.
My Role at Acumen BI: I recently joined the Acumen BI team as a senior data engineer in 2022 and am excited to work with technologies such as Snowflake and dbt. I've been involved in collecting requirements and implementation of best practice data transformation methods as well as developing customer and viewership data assets using Snowflake which help client's leadership to extract value from their data and analytics pipeline.
When I'm not working: My favourite pastimes are playing cricket, reading personality development books, and following Indian politics.
Experience: I've been doing government work since 2010 and data warehousing since 2012. Previously I was a data warehouse developer with MBIE for 3 and a half years.
My Role at Acumen BI: I've worked for NZHP to build a consolidated data model of medical device spend across the health sector with Snowflake. I love helping customers get the most out of their data.
When I'm not working: I enjoy internet chess and analysing a few wines with friends or family.

Experience: I'm an IT professional with over 15 years experience in data warehousing and data engineering. I've worked on various projects in industries such as Insurance and Banking. I have experience handling large volumes and complex data using a variety of tools and technologies.
My Role at Acumen BI: As a senior data engineer, I'm passionate about designing and building scalable and efficient data pipelines that enable organisations to make data-driven decisions. I'm also excited to leverage my expertise in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing to deliver high-quality data solutions that meet unique business needs.
When I'm not working: I enjoy staying active and spending time outdoors. I have a particular passion for playing cricket, tennis, and badminton. I also love spending time with friends and family, When I have the opportunity, I enjoy traveling.

- Senior Analytics Consultant
Experience: I have over twenty years experience working on large scale complex technology environments and projects in New Zealand and the UK in BI consulting, ITIL configuration management and Business Analyst roles.
My Role at Acumen BI: I joined Acumen after being impressed by the simplicity and power of Acumen BI's preferred suite of BI tools. My work centres on implementing solutions, and training BI developers and designers across the NZ government and public health sectors.
When I'm not working: I spend a lot of time rock climbing, scaring myself on cliffs and practicing new knots.
Experience: I've been doing account management in the IT industry since 2012, looking after organisations across a wide range of industries, and delivering different technology services and solutions. More recently I've had sales coaching and sales management roles. Before joining Acumen BI I was sales operations manager at Adobe. Joining Acumen BI is my first role focusing on data and analytics solutions and it's an exciting change for me!
Experience: I started as a data entry clerk, which eventuated to working as a BI developer at AC Civil construction back in my home country. After working as a bartender, early childhood teacher and retail assistant my passion of digging deeper into data and visualisation gave me an opportunity to work for Acumen BI.
My Role at Acumen BI: As a analytics consultant for Acumen BI, I've provided full-time support for the Ministry of Health for the National Immunisation Programme team, developing Qlik applications and building NPrint reports.
When I'm not working: You can find me in the library looking for Tamil books and on the Netball court a few days a week. I love camping, gaming, crocheting, and crossing items off my bucket list.
Experience: I worked at a consultancy based in the UK called Business Data Partners for 7 years as a Senior Consultant within Financial Services, working with some of the largest banks in the UK. My roles have typically included elements of business analysis, data engineering and data analysis.
My Role at Acumen BI: I'm a Senior Data Engineer working with Snowflake and dbt. I'm able to draw on my previous consulting experience, learning, supporting and collaborating with the Acumen BI team to deliver the best for our clients.
When I'm not working: I love playing and watching sports, primarily football (I'm an Arsenal fan) and racket sports. I'm hoping to tick ‘go to an All Blacks game' off my bucket list in the not too distant future. Something surprising about me, I had a bit of a childhood obsession with circus skills, and although I wasn't particularly amazing, I can still ride a unicycle and juggle with clubs.
Experience: I worked in retail for almost 10 years, but in 2020 I got an opportunity to change my career and jump into the IT industry. During my study, I participated in many additional study programs including Microsoft Student Accelerator, Summer of Tech and Azure DevOps. Before starting at Acumen BI, I had an internship as a Power App Developer.
My Role at Acumen BI: I'm a junior data engineer at Acumen BI
When I'm not working: When I'm not dealing with computers, I'm full-time mum and wife. I'm also interested in science and technology, especially in medicine.

Experience: I've been in the BI industry since 2013. I started as a BI solution specialist in Hong Kong before Acumen BI. I've accumulated extensive experience in consulting services for customers across a wide range of sectors such as government, property management and retail.
My Role at Acumen BI: As a senior analytics consultant, I provide implementation consultancy, mentoring and professional services from application builds to extended capabilities such as machine learning and geospatial operations. I've worked on a migration project for Health NZ to Qlik Sense and Qlik Cloud. Being able to deliver insight to customers and helping organisations to onboard and transform throughout their BI journey have been the most satisfying thing to see in my role.
