Joel M. Walker is the Managing Partner of the Pittsburgh office of Nye Stirling Hale, Miller and Sweet LLP and heads the firm's Bankrtupcy and Financial Restructuring Group. Joel has represented both domestic and foreign clients in cases throughout the United States. His national bankruptcy and insolvency practice encompasses a wide range of issues and a variety of clients. He counsels debtors, creditors (both secured and unsecured including banks, committees, indenture trustees, bondholders, vendors and sexual abuse survivors), purchasers and lessors in matters related to plans of reorganization, asset purchases, prosecution of claims and avoidance actions. Listed in Best Lawyers in America, Joel has been named Pittsburgh Lawyer of the Year in 2016 and 2018 for Bankruptcy and Reorganization Law, in 2019 for Banking and Finance Law and in 2020 for Bankruptcy Litigation as well as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer. Joel also serves as a mediator in disputes throughout the United States. He has participated in many mediations involving commercial disputes, both in bankruptcy cases and otherwise, as a mediator as well as counsel for interested parties. Joel has completed extensive mediation training including the ABI/St. John's University Hugh L. Carey Dispute Resolution Center's inaugural program. In his representation of various businesses, Joel provides both legal advice and business counseling. He works with clients in mergers, acquisitions and strategic alliances. He has significant experience in related areas including raising capital, corporate governance and general business advice. Most recently, Joel was a partner at a major international law firm. Prior to that, he was a principal in a business involved in international trade. That company was agent for or partnered with various businesses with regard to trade deals, particularly in South America and Japan. Joel is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and Miami University.

Jordan Porter

Jordan Porter has a broad range of litigation experience, and has represented clients in a wide range of high profile, high controversy matters. Formerly of the Law Offices of Woosley & Porter, Jordan started his own firm in November 2017, until jointing Nye, Stirling, Hale, Miller & Sweet as a partner in 2019. Jordan has represented large and small companies, public entities, and individuals in cases involving claims of sexual abuse, securities fraud, elder abuse, wrongful death, breach of contract, construction disputes, real estate, and real property disputes, professional negligence, and violations of civil rights violations. Jordan has represented his clients in all phases of litigation, including trials, arbitrations, and appeals. He has successfully tried cases before the Superior Courts of Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties. Jordan has filed and brought to conclusion hundreds of securities arbitrations file with FINRA and AAA. He is admitted to practice in California, the United States District Courts for the Central, Southern, and Eastern Districts of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Born in Centralia, Washington, Jordan received his juris doctorate from the Santa Barbara College of Law, where he graduated with highest honors. Jordan lives in Santa Barbara with his wife and three children. He is a member of the Santa Barbara County Bar Association, the William L. Gordon Inns of Court, and the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara North, and a former board member of the Santa Barbara Barristers.

Margaret (Meg) Parker

Margaret (Meg) Parker is an associate at Nye, Stirling, Hale, Miller & Sweet, where she focuses on handling complex civil litigation in state and federal court. Her practice focuses on employment issues such as wrongful termination, discrimination, and civil rights violations, as well as civil litigation issues such as breach of contract, negligence, and intellectual property. Prior to joining Nye, Stirling, Hale, Miller & Sweet, Meg worked as an associate at the Los Angeles office of an international law firm, where her practice focused on representation of employers in both single-plaintiff and wage and hour class action matters. She also counseled and advised clients on day-to-day employment issues regarding employee discipline and termination, wage and hour law compliance, leaves of absence, and independent contractor versus employee classification. Meg is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where she received her undergraduate degrees in Rhetoric and French, and of Georgetown University Law Center, where she received her juris doctorate. While in law school, Meg was an extern for Chief Judge Beryl A. Howell of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. She also served as the Editor-in-Chief for the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics and received the St. Thomas More Award for Outstanding Student Work in Legal Ethics.

Patricia Y. Miller

Patricia Miller is Of Counsel at Nye, Stirling, Miller & Sweet, where she focuses on health care and disability-related matters. Her practice focuses on health care operational, regulatory and compliance issues and assisting clients with disabilities in their resolution of claims against health care providers. Patricia has represented individual health care providers and health care system throughout her career, and has advised clients on consent, licensing and Medicare certification matters, as well as responded to state and federal investigations. She has also served as Assistant Compliance Officer for a prominent university based, academic medical center and most recently served as their Director of Risk Management overseeing litigation for multiple health care providers and assisting in the assessment and successful resolution of claims and lawsuits. Patricia has significant experience in developing individualized corrective action plans and monitoring tools as well as providing tailored education and training for health care providers. Patricia has also practiced as a Registered Nurse for more than 10 years. She earned her juris doctor degree, with honors, from Southwestern University School of Law, where she was a member of the law review and recipient of numerous merit awards. She earned her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Villanova University. She is admitted to practice law in California, and still maintains an active nursing license.
