Brayden joined the firm in June 2019 as an associate. Brayden previously completed two summer articles and his full articles at a litigation firm in Chilliwack, where he worked with individuals in the areas of employment and human rights, civil litigation, and corporate/commercial law. Brayden has appeared in the Provincial Court of B.C. and the B.C. Supreme Court and also assisted clients through various dispute resolution and mediation processes.
Brayden completed his law degree at the University of Alberta, and attended the University of British Columbia for his final year where he participated in the Criminal Law Clinic. Prior to attending law school, Brayden studied Business at Trinity Western University and also served as captain of the varsity soccer team. Brayden has performed a variety of speaking engagements at schools and corporate fundraisers where he has shared his educational, athletic, and legal experiences.
In his spare time, Brayden enjoys watching and participating in a long list of sports, but most of all, spending time with his wife Katrina and their four children.
Joanne Wiebe joined the firm as an associate in April, 2022 and is practicing in the areas of corporate law, charity compliance, and estate planning and estate law.
Joanne previously worked as an associate at a mid-sized insurance defence firm in Vancouver. Prior to law school at University of Saskatchewan, Joanne attended UBC where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. Joanne's work to date has included extensive experience assisting clients in achieving favourable resolutions to their claims through negotiations and mediations, conducting trials as second chair in the BC Supreme Court, and assisting clients in estate planning and employment law matters.
Outside of work, Joanne enjoys playing the piano, practicing her food photography, and spending time with her family and demanding cat.

Ken is a partner and the firm's senior solicitor with more than 32 years of legal experience. Ken's primary practice areas are corporate and commercial, real estate and wills and estates. Ken specializes in serving the non-profit and charitable sector in his primary practice areas.
Ken provides practical legal advice to business and not-for-profit clients from start up to wind-up and through all of the corporate, commercial and real estate transactions in between. He also assists clients with their personal estate and succession planning including Wills, Planning instruments and Trusts.
Ken has a broad range of experience in his practice areas including:
Ken teaches frequently in his areas of expertise, particularly in the areas of not-for-profit and charity law and Wills and Estate Planning. He has also served as a volunteer on the boards of a number of community and educational organizations.

Luke provides legal advice to charities, non-profit organizations, businesses and individuals in the areas of charity law, corporate/commercial law, and wills and estates. His practice covers a broad range of services, including charity governance and organization, charity compliance audits, corporate reorganizations, and business transactions. Luke represents organizations across the voluntary sector including churches, private foundations, housing providers, schools, and international development agencies.
Luke was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 2008, and has been with De Jager Volkenant since. He articled with a litigation firm. He completed his law degree at the University of British Columbia, where he received awards in intellectual property law and Korean law, and volunteered for several years with the student legal advice program. During university, he co-led the only Canadian team participating in the Oxford International Intellectual Property Moot at Oxford University. Before turning to law, Luke graduated from Trinity Western University with a degree in communications and English literature, worked for several charitable organizations, taught English in China, and operated a martial arts studio.
He lives with his wife and children in North Delta, and enjoys reading, cycling, and playing guitar and bass in his spare time.
Maria joined the firm in January 2023 as an associate. Maria previously worked as in-house counsel and privacy officer with a large internationally focused charity based in Alberta, and as an associate with a mid-sized general practice firm in Abbotsford.
Maria completed her law degree at the University of Ottawa. Prior to attending law school, Maria studied International & Comparative Politics, and Second Language Teaching, also at University of Ottawa.

Rhys joined the firm as an associate in January 2021. Prior to joining De Jager Volkenant, Rhys articled and worked as an associate lawyer at a mid-sized law firm in downtown Vancouver and assisted clients with corporate commercial, intellectual property and advanced education matters. Rhys currently practices in the areas of business law, charity compliance, education law and real estate.
Rhys completed his law degree at the University of British Columbia, with a Law and Social Justice Specialization. Prior to law school at University of British Columbia, Rhys attended Trinity Western University and played varsity soccer there for five years.
Outside of work, Rhys enjoys being a father and spending time with his wife and their three children. He also continues to be involved in soccer through coaching and playing recreationally.

Charles is a partner of De Jager Volkenant and the firm's senior litigation counsel with 33 years of experience. He carries on a general litigation counsel practice focused in the areas of charities and non-profit organizations, employment, labour and human rights, education law, civil litigation and mediation and arbitration.
Charles acts for a wide range of charities and non-profit organizations including local and international church and para-church organizations, local and international missions, aid and development organizations, independent schools and education organizations, housing organizations and foundations as well as a variety of businesses and individuals.
