Annemarie was the Worcester Fire Department's Community Risk Reduction and Public Education Division. She has been in emergency services as a firefighter and a paramedic for over 35 years. Lt. Pickett set the standard for integrating community risk reduction tactics taught at the National Fire Academy into protecting her community. Annie has written five successful Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Fire Prevention and Safety grants. Which allowed for college fire safety programs, programing for individuals with special needs and 3 successful rounds that allowed for the purchase, distribution and installation of Smart burner; a heat limiting device replacing coil burners into almost 2,500 low income vulnerable high risk units. Eliminating stovetop cooking fires in these units. In 2018 Annie was the national mentor for the Sound-off a fire safety program. She received the 2011 Massachusetts Fire and Life Safety Educator of the Year award, and is the recipient of NFPA's 2015 Educator of the Year award; the division was the recipient of the 2016 FIREMARK national community service award and the Massachusetts Norman Knight community service excellence award. The Division has multiple community service recognitions and accommodations. Annie serves on the Massachusetts fire and life safety task force and as interim secretary on the NFPA Education Section.

Karla Klas

Karla manages the University of Michigan Trauma Burn Center's nationally acclaimed community and family-centered injury prevention programs. Her 27-year distinguished career in critical care burn/trauma nursing, youth firesetting intervention, research, education, injury prevention, community risk reduction, professional development training, program management, and mentoring has produced numerous medical journal publications, textbook chapters and grant awards. Paul Schwartzman is a licensed mental health counselor, providing counseling services to children, adolescents and families in the Rochester (NY) area for more than thirty years. His interest in the field of juvenile firesetting developed while on staff at the University of Rochester where he participated with other researchers in the study of juvenile fire play and fire setting. Paul was a member of the original research team that originated the Fire Related Youth Unit for the City of Rochester (NY) Fire Department and the BIC preschool firesafety education curriculum, both award winning programs that address issues of children and fire. Paul has co-authored books and produced several research articles for professional journals and has written a chapter on treatment of juvenile firesetters in The Handbook of Prescriptive Treatments for Children and Adolescents published by Allyn & Bacon. As Chair of the NFPA Education Section Executive Board, Tammy also served on Vision 20/20's Steering Committee. She also served as a subject matter expert in Vision 20/20's grant project to develop a web-based fire safety materials generator. Tammy (Peavy) Mills joined ImageTrend as an Implementation Specialist in August 2021. Before joining ImageTrend, Tammy worked from 2007 to 2021 with the Mississippi State Fire Marshal's Office. There Tammy was responsible for teaching fire safety education to residents of all ages across the state. She wrote six successful Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program Fire Prevention and Safety grants to purchase and distribute to fire departments, community organizations, and state agencies for installation in high-risk homes more than 123,000 long-life smoke alarms and more than 4,100 alert devices for the hearing impaired; a fire safety education trailer; and a statewide fire safety media campaign. During her time with the State Fire Marshal's Office, Tammy received certification as a Fire and Emergency Services Instructor Level I-II-III. In 2014, Tammy was assigned additional responsibilities of administering the statewide records management system - ImageTrend's Fire Bridge. Prior to her departure, she migrated the Fire Bridge system to ImageTrend's Elite Fire platform. She provided all training and customer support to approximately 9,000 users in 730 fire departments for seven years. In May 2014, Tammy traveled with a group of Iowa firefighters to teach fire prevention to the Village of Katete in Zambia, Africa. During this trip, a fire truck donated by a refinery in North Pole, Alaska, was delivered with truck operation and firefighter training provided to the firefighters. Before joining the State Fire Marshal's Office, Tammy worked from 1994 to 2004 at Marion General Hospital in Columbia, MS, as PBX operator, Medical Records Clerk, and Emergency Room/Outpatient Admissions Clerk before becoming the Public Education Officer for the Hattiesburg, MS, Fire Department from 2004 to 2007. Tammy volunteered with Tri-Community Fire Department in Marion County, MS, from 1994 to 2013, receiving certifications as Volunteer Firefighter, Emergency Medical First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, Rural Fire Officer, and Fire and Life Safety Educator I-II-III. There Tammy was a firefighter and emergency medical first responder and assisted with fire and life safety education programs. She also served as secretary, treasurer, board member, and Assistant Training Officer and received awards for Junior Firefighter of the Year; Recruit of the Year; Firefighter of the Year; Most Hours Fire Service Training; and Most Hours EMS Training. Tammy was a member of the Mississippi Association of Public Fire Safety Educators from 1998 until 2021 and served as President, Past President, Southern Division Representative, and chair and member of various committees. Tammy was a 2002 Risk Watch Champion through the National Fire Protection Association's Mentor Program and served as member and chairperson of the Mississippi Risk Watch Champion Management Team. From its inception in 2007 until she left the State Fire Marshal's Office, she represented Mississippi in the NFPA's Public Education Network.
