MISS KATE'S PRESCHOOL

Many of our activities had a number focus this month. We talked about and practiced how to look at a number in many different ways. A new activity we added to our routine is after we count how many friends are at school each day, we use our fingers to show that number in as many ways as we can. For example, if 6 children are at school, we have shown 5 and 1, 3 and 3, or 4 and 2. The children love to try and make different combinations based on the number. The squirrel game above was also great skill practice. Below is an example of a small group activity that also practiced this skill. We also made lots of graphs this month too, which worked on sorting as well as comparing amounts... We continue to work on writing and building our names at the beginning of each class. We are also using the different wood pieces to build all the letters of the alphabet. Baby Echo has been busy teaching us all the letters and sounds. The morning class has completed through the letter Q and the afternoon..
