Mona Webber

Mona Webber is a Marine Scientist with approximately 30 years' experience in research and teaching in Jamaica out of the University of the West Indies (Mona campus). She is presently a Professor of Marine Biology and the James S. Moss Solomon Snr. Chair in Environmental Management at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona. Dr Webber was previously Head of the Department of Life Sciences and Associate Dean for student matters in the faculty of Sciences and Technology. In addition to being Director of the Centre for Marine Sciences Dr Webber is currently the Director of the Discovery Bay Marine Laboratory and was previously, Academic Coordinator of the Port Royal Marine Laboratory. She is a member of several national and regional boards and committees; including Association of Marine Laboratories of the Caribbean, NEPA Technical Review Committee and the Scientific Authority to CITES. Prof Webber has authored or co-authored over 35 refereed publications, 30 conference presentations and numerous technical reports. She has raised over US$1.9 million for her research and has supervised or co-supervised over 35 graduate students in a range of marine related topics. She is currently supervising/co-supervising eight graduate students. Consequently, her current research projects range from mangrove assessment and rehabilitation, coral reef nursery propagation, seagrass assessments, water quality/micro-plastics in a eutrophic harbor (Kingston Harbour) and ichthyoplankton and fish biomass as indicators of success in Special Fishery Conservation Areas. Professor Mona Webber is director of the Centre for Marine Sciences, Department of Life Sciences and James Moss Solomon Sr. Chair in Environment at the University of the West Indies (Mona). She conducts research in Jamaica's marine environment ranging from coastal systems ecology and rehabilitation to water quality and micro-plastics in Kingston Harbour.

Mr. Stephen B. Facey

Mr. Stephen B. Facey is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of PanJam Investment Limited (formerly Pan-Jamaican Investment Trust Limited). He has over 35 years of experience in architecture, real estate development and management, and private equity investing. Under Mr. Facey's leadership, PanJam continually creates shareholder value by investing across the Jamaican economic landscape.

Robert O'Brien

In 1962 Robert interrupted studies at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service to serve as a Peace Corps volunteer in Jamaica as part of Group 1. He taught construction skills to teenage boys at the Cobbla Camp near Spaldings. Following the Peace Corps service he completed studies at Georgetown. In 1967 he married Amelia Comas Bacardi and returned with her to Jamaica to work in the private sector. They have 3 children, with spouses and grandchildren the family now numbers 17. They reside in USA but spend as much time as possible in Jamaica. Spurred by the ethics of his grandparents who have founded the camp on MT. Riga and the beauty of the Caribbean region where he had come to know and love. He was executive director of the Bacardi Family Foundation which supported significant environmental initiatives in the Florida Keys and the Bahamas, including the Parks Partnership Project which brought The Nature Conservatory to the Bahamas. Now retired, he continues to serve as a trustee of the Caribbean program of The Nature Conservatory. However he is principally focused on a number of environmental projects in Jamaica, including Jamaica Conservation Partners, ArtVark, and Carib Share Biogas.

Rupika Delgoda

Dr. Rupika Delgoda Clarke is a tenured, Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Director of the Natural Products Institute (NPI), at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona. Following a D.Phil. degree in Pharmacology at Oxford University, U.K. and a post-doctoral research Fellowship in Biochemistry at the University of Leicester, U.K., she commenced research in the Mona campus of UWI in Jamaica. Her research is focused on ethnomedicines and bio-prospecting Jamaican natural products from plants, marine and microorganisms, for medicinal worth and investigating their safe use. Among her publications is the recently released edited book, "Pharmacognosy: Fundamentals, Applications and Strategies" by Elsevier. Robert Hew is a proud graduate of Campion College, who went on to read Law at Magdalen College, Oxford, received an MBA from Harvard Business School, and returned to Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and received an additional law degree. He worked for the Boston Consulting Group, an international strategy consulting firm, and later co-founded Icon International Inc., a New York-based barter-finance company which dealt primarily with the media, hotel, airline, and close-out industries. It was eventually bought by Omnicom, a Fortune 500 media conglomerate. He is an avid SCUBA diver and genealogist. Since 2012 has been actively involved with the Chinese Benevolent Association, primarily with the Restoration of the Chinese Cemetery and the digitization of its records. He has served as President of the CBA since 2018.

Stephen Facey - Chairman

An Architect by training, Mr. Facey holds a B.A. in Architecture from Rice University and a M.Arch. from the University of Pennsylvania. His passion has always been for real estate. As such, he is currently involved with both public and private organisations that represent that industry. Mr. Facey is the Chairman of Jamaica Property Company Limited, the Jamaica Developers Association, Kingston Restoration Company Limited and the New Kingston Civic Association. In keeping with the Facey Family's commitment to the development of Jamaica's youth, Mr. Facey is the Chairman of the Boys' Town Infant and Primary School, as well as the C.B. Facey Foundation, the charitable arm of PanJam. Mr. Facey is also the Chairman of New Castle Group of Companies. He is a Director of Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited, Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited, Chukka Caribbean Adventures Limited and the National Gallery of Jamaica, and a Trustee of the Institute of Jamaica.

Susan Hunter Smith

Susan and her family divide their time between Massachusetts, Rhode Island and the Caribbean. Having spent the last twenty-six years in the Caribbean with particular interest in the environment. For the past nine years has served on the Caribbean board for The Nature Conservancy. She was past board chair (2011- 2015). The Program keeps her active with projects in the Eastern Caribbean as well as Jamaica. Jamaica has a special interest to her. The primary goal being to bring people to nature through a healthy sustainable environment. Susan has been active with the organization of Jamaica Conservation Partners since its beginning. Other interests include equestrian activities with her own horses and helping youth with learning about horsemanship in the United States Pony Clubs. Susan served on the National board based in Lexington, Kentucky. Professionally, Susan has been a Reading teacher specializing in Learning Differences and English as a second language. Teaching both children and adults in school and business settings. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a BS in Child Development. Reading certification from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Wendy Hart

Wendy Hart is the President of the American Friends of Jamaica, a US based 501 c) (iii) organization that raises funds for education, healthcare and economic development in Jamaica. She was born in Jamaica, lived in England and New York and currently resides in Miami, Florida. She worked in hotel development with Island Outpost for over 12 years in South Beach and the Caribbean and was a Board Member and Marketing Chair for the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Miami Beach VCA. In addition to real estate and volunteer work in education, she is passionate about her work with the AFJ. She earned her BA in Law from Cambridge University and an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School.

Winston White

He attended high school in Bayside and is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo and St. John's University earning BA/MBA degrees. He serves on the Boards of Evergreen (North Brooklyn Business Exchange) helping to retain industrial businesses in Brooklyn and the Jamaica Conservation Partners where he sees opportunities to help protect the environment and improve conservation on the island.
