After completing his undergraduate work at Duke University in 1977, Dr. Kahan earned an M.D. from SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York. He completed an internship and residency in general psychiatry at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Following his residency, he completed a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, where he also served as Chief Resident. He is Board Certified in General Psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
