In 2018, I decided to take a gap year before college to travel with my family. Until then, the only road I had cared about was the one that would eventually take me to a degree in aerospace engineering (my entire life I had only ever wanted to work for NASA). Less than a year later, however, I had developed a fondness for RV-ing that I hadn't anticipated, and after watching my Mom take the RV tech classes at the National RV Training Academy, I decided I wanted to alter my course. I fell in love with the challenge of troubleshooting the variety of issues that are unique to RVs. Repairing and renovating different types of rigs offered me a similar sense of variety and fulfillment that I had felt when doing summer Space programs building weather balloons and robots. When I discovered that there was a huge need for trained RV Techs, especially females, in the RV world/industry, I realized I could do something I enjoy while helping others. As the youngest female certified RV technician (at the time of my certification) I have already faced some challenges within our industry. Being 19 and female in a predominately male industry, sadly, my work ethic and skills are frequently questioned. I hope to be able to inspire other young women by doing something I'm passionate about even if it's not the "norm". Traveling, being a student of life, and assisting people within the RV community is what truly drives me now. That and well, to be honest…I HATE cold weather! One of the many reasons I love traveling is because I can always be somewhere above 70 degrees! After growing up in Ohio, I decided I don't want to see snow (or a temperature below the 60s) again unless I absolutely have to. Deciding to become a full-time RVer and RV technician has expanded my world in ways I never could have imagined previously. While traveling I have met, assisted, and befriended many incredible people who I'd have never met if I never took this opportunity, and I look forward to meeting more in the future.

As long as I was old enough to drive, I have always been a lover of the great American road trip. It didn't matter to me if the destination was 50 miles away or 500, I was always up for spending time behind the wheel exploring our beautiful countryside. Eventually, my love of travel evolved to a management career in the airline industry, which afforded me the ability to travel further than I ever dreamed this small-town girl from Eastern Kentucky would ever go. In my experience, once the travel bug bites you, it's a disease you never find a cure for, it only leaves you wanting more.
