Many companies throughout the world are creating seaweed alternatives to plastic. Resife is helping some of these start-ups to scale up by raising funds and by linking them to large corporations... Therefore, Resife is currently working together with several researchers to look at ways to retrieve jellyfish toxins. Toxins are very potent and many have pharmaceutical benefits. More specifically, some of the toxins can help solve cardiac diseases and neurological conditions. They may also allow us to find a cure to deadly jellyfish stings... At Resife we basically have two ways to select whether or not a project is worthwhile. First, will it have a positive impact on nature on a significant scale? Second, will it be economically viable? In other words, could we transform the innovative project into a business which will improve the environment?
