I live in Mitchell with my husband Anders and three children, Vaughn (Grad of 2022), Sienna (Grade 11), and Nadia (Grade 7). I am the photographer and owner of Charmaine Toews Photography. I have a photography studio in my home and specialize in portraiture. I attend Crossview Church in Steinbach and enjoy watching football, travelling, and doing crossfit with my friends. I am passionate about education and look forward to working with the other School Trustees to support HSD and make policies that benefit all students. I heard from many parents, teachers, and grandparents as I campaigned for this role. I want to continue those conversations and make myself available to listen to questions and concerns.
I grew up attending Blumenort School and graduated from the SRSS. I went on to attend Providence College where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences. For the last 8 years I have been involved in the Parent Advisory Councils at my children鈥檚 schools: Mitchell Elementary, Mitchell Middle, and SRSS.
I served in the roles of PAC Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. I also have 7 years of board experience with the Professional Photographers of Canada. Four of those years were spent on the National Board as Treasurer. I hope to use this experience to help with strategic planning, cooperative leadership, and budget decisions.
My name is Cheryl Froese. I live near Grunthal with my husband (Jeremy) and our four children. We are actively involved in a mixed family farm where we raise beef cattle, broiler chickens and grow crops. I have served our local churches by playing piano and through years of involvement on the Community DVBS committee. I also enjoy camping with my family, watersports, curling and downhill skiing.
A love of learning is embedded in me, and I am convinced this is why I pursued a career in education. Upon graduating from Elm Creek School, I attended Bible School for two years and pursued my Bachelor of Education Degree at Brandon University. In 2001, I eagerly accepted my first teaching position in 日韩精品app. I was blessed to teach for several years before meeting my husband and starting our family. While at home with our young children, I continued to be involved in education by completing my Post Baccalaureate in Education through the University of Manitoba, volunteering with Ag in the Classroom, acting as a substitute/term teacher in our local schools and most importantly by parenting!
My primary goal as School Trustee is to serve and interact with families in our community. I am eager to learn more about Public Education while I fulfill my duties in this role!
My name is Danielle Funk and I live in Steinbach with my husband Cory and my two children Benjamin and Emma, who are both just starting in HSD. I graduated from Red River College in 2012 with a Business Administration diploma and currently works in sales. Previously I was involved with the Red River College Students ™ Association as President and CEO, V.P. Academic, Chair and Board Member. I was also a Member of Red River College Board of Governors and a delegate for the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations. For the 2018/2019 school year I was Chair of the Arts for Tots Parents Committee.
Choosing to run for trustee of HSD wasn ™t a difficult choice for me. I personally had struggles in school, mostly in junior high and high school and I did not finish high school in the traditional way. When I was 19, I completed my GED and then later received my Adult Education Diploma when I decided to further my education at Red River College. During my time at RRC and because of my Involvement with the Students ™ Association, a passion for education grew within me. My experiences on a multitude of boards as well as the school experiences of myself and others who are close to me, I knew I could be a strong voice for students with a unique perspective. Thank you for the opportunity to serve our children and our community.

My name is Lynn Barkman and my passion for education can be traced back to my pre-professional days. I attained my nursing status after I graduated from grade twelve and found my joy in my job in blessing my patients. As a mother to four children, my commitment to the education of my children in HSD strengthened. In 1999 I ran for a position on the Hanover School Board and I have been a committed trustee since then.
My ultimate goal as a trustee is to do my part for each student in our division to have the opportunity to graduate and choose a career they are passionate about as I was about mine. I want each student to have the tools to unlock the door for them to achieve success - which will look different for each student. We need to continue to develop future leaders, instill and encourage intellectual thinking, to give and teach purpose to be great citizens. I want to continue to be a voice for the parents of our students and be mindful of who pays the taxes in our division.
I am married to Ron Barkman who I have worked beside as we farmed in the Giroux area. Two years ago we relocated to Steinbach, but continue to attend the Ridgewood Church. HSD is a great place to live.

Years ago when I decided to pursue trusteeship, I chose to let my name stand because it was a place where I could get involved in an area important to each of my children. I love having a leadership role in education and as a result continue in my role as a trustee. With the recent election, I completed 30 years as a trustee.
My name is Shayne Barkman and this is my first term as serving as a school trustee for Ward 2. Growing up, I would never have expected to add 鈥渟chool trustee鈥� to my resume; but watching my three children enter the school system, I knew I wanted to have a positive leadership role in their school education.
My main goal as a school trustee is to ensure that every family has a voice, and I am honoured that I was elected to be that voice for you. I want to continue to uphold the values that 日韩精品app was built on and continue to find ways to keep children engaged and inspired throughout their school years. I want to continue to ensure that our tax dollars are used wisely and where they are needed the most.
I am a husband, a father, the owner of a local oil seed and grain farm, a hockey player, a university graduate with a degree in Agribusiness, a person who is passionate about financial management and planning and now a school trustee.
