Abdolrahim Zandi

Abdolrahim Zandi leads the Product design and development at SafetySpect. His main functions are design, development, analysis of electromechanical systems, optics and packaging of advanced multi-mode imaging technologies for wound related diseases. He is also responsible for testing and integration of new and future products in compliance to Federal, He is part of Biomechanical Engineering Department at NDU , with broad experience in design, analysis, testing and maturation of biomedical, wearable, as well as monitoring and avionic devices, complying to requirements of regulatory agencies such FDA ,FAA, NASA and DARPA. He has developed and implemented acceptance, reliability and qualification tests and procedures(ATP/QTP) for biomedical and military products for the last thirty years. He holds multiple degrees and certificates in Engineering, physics, MEMS/Nano fabrication (sensors), six sigma, analysis(FEA/CFD) and system engineering. His previous designs include limb-lengthening implant, embolic protection devices, implants, health monitoring wrist band, sports-ware, pachymeter, A-scan and B-scan biosensors, keratometry and Nasa's beacon for Orion Spacecraft.

Alex Foxman

Dr. Foxman is a leading internist and preventive care specialist, providing patients with advanced, compassionate care for an array of medical issues, including cardiac, metabolic, neurological, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, and musculoskeletal diseases and conditions. Dr. Foxman completed his Bachelor of Science degree in cellular and molecular biology at California State University followed by his medical degree at AUC School of Medicine and his residency in internal medicine at the University of Southern California Medical Center. He is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Academy of Home Care Physicians, and a fellow of the American College of Physicians (F.A.C.P.).

Benjamin Tehrani

David G. Armstrong

Dr. Armstrong is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Southern California. He has produced more than 550 peer-reviewed research papers in dozens of scholarly medical journals as well as over 100 books or book chapters. He is co-Editor of the American Diabetes Association's (ADA) Clinical Care of the Diabetic Foot, now in its third edition. Dr. Armstrong is the founder and co-Director of the Southwestern Academic Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA). Master of Science in Tissue Repair and Wound Healing from the University of Wales College of Medicine and a Ph.D. from the University of Manchester College of Medicine, where he was appointed Visiting Professor of Medicine.

Kouhyar Tavakalian, PhD

Dr. Tavakolian's particular interest is in biological signal and image processing, biomedical instrumentation, noninvasive cardiology technologies and he has published more than a hundred journals, conference proceedings, patents, and book chapters in these fields. Dr. Tavakolian is a scientist with entrepreneurial interest and experience in knowledge transfer to industry. He has co-founded startups and served as a board member and is also working towards an MBA degree at the University of North Dakota.

Mahdi Saeedi

Mahdi is a graduate student in the Biomedical Engineering department at the University of North Dakota. He completed his bachelor's double majoring in computer science and mathematics at UND. His experience includes software engineering internships at NASA, Thomson Reuters and research experience under the guidance of UND faculties designing simulations to study communication between unmanned Arial vehicles and mathematics of gerrymandering.

Mahsa Ranji

Mahsa Ranji received a PhD degree in 2007 in Electrical Engineering from University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) for her studies on fluorescence spectroscopy and imaging of cardiovascular diseases. She then joined Sanford Burnham Institute for Medical Research/UCSD bioengineering as a postdoctoral associate in January 2008 where she has studied stem cell differentiation for cardiac repair. She has been at UWM electrical engineering department from 2009 to 2020 before joining FAU CEECS/ISENSE in August 2020. Dr. Ranji closely collaborates medical school scientists.

Marc Basson

He has been involved in many clinical trials, including as PI for the NIH-funded DaCCoTA Center for Clinical and Translational Research. Dr. Basson has been in progressive academic positions, currently serving as Senior Associate Dean for Medicine and Research for the University of North Dakota. His exemplary formal education includes The University of Michigan (BA-Medicine, BS-Biomedical Science, MD), Yale University (MPhil, PhD in Experimental Pathology), and Wayne State (MBA).

Mona S Thompson

Dr. Mona Sohrabi Thompson is a Biomedical Scientist specializing in Neurodegenerative Disorders focused on Alzheimer's Disease (AD). She has a master's in Microbial Biotechnology and received her Ph.D. from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences (UND SMHS). She spent 8+ years working on the recombinant expression of neurotrophic factors and studying their functions in AD and aging. She explored and determined a link between inflammatory bowel disease as well as colorectal cancer and the exacerbation of AD through the well-established gut-brain axis using transgenic mouse models and human disease samples. Her research data contributed to an NIH grant at UND SMHS and culminated with the publications of several peer-reviewed manuscripts in well-established journals. Aside from preclinical experiences, she gained experience in the clinical field working as a certified nurse assistant at senior-assisted living homes and shadowing physicians with various specialties. As a clinical scientist in WoundExam Corp., she will design and manage clinical protocols and analyze lab results and wound healing-related data.

Nicholas MacKinnon

He is a co-founder and Vice President of eTreatMD, a mobile medical device company, which focused on apps for analytics. Pauline Glynn

Early in her career Pauline was employed with the South Dakota Department of Labor. Later she worked as an Office Manager, Executive Secretary and Human Resources Manager while obtaining a degree in Business Administration. Recognizing the increased demand for health care services she obtained a nursing degree and worked as a Charge Nurse and Nursing Supervisor specializing in Behavioral Health and Geriatrics. A career move lead her to working for a company engaged in antibody therapies as the Associate Project Manager. She continued her education and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Management.

Robert Brunnemer

Robert is a Biomedical Engineering PhD student at UND where he also completed his Bachelor's and Master's in Electrical Engineering. He grew up near Redding, California and worked as an electrician for almost 10 years through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local 340, where he worked on mostly Industrial and Commercial construction projects. In his off time, he enjoys working on robotics, programming, and virtual reality.

Robert Kerr Goodwin

Robert "Bob" Kerr Goodwin is an American non-profit executive, political appointee, and publisher known for serving as CEO of Points of Light. After years working in media, Goodwin transitioned to working for colleges and universities, taking public affairs and advocacy positions at Prairie View A&M University and Texas A&M University. During the 1988 election, Goodwin led the Democrats for Bush movement. After George H.W. Bush was elected, Goodwin accepted a political appointment to serve in the United States Department of Education, where he led the White House Initiative for Historically Black Colleges. In 1992, he joined the Bush-founded Points of Light Foundation and, in 1995 became its President and CEO.

Sukhveer Sandhu

Sukhveer Sandhu is currently an online PhD student at the University of North Dakota. Sukhveer has earned an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineer from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA in 2011. Additionally, he earned a master's degree in Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis in Neuroengineering, from the University of Southern California in 2015. Sukhveer's research experience has spanned many disciplines including optical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, fluid dynamics, biomedical engineering, and computer engineering. Sukhveer has always operated in multidisciplinary teams and has a particular interest in bridging the gap between the needs of end-users and engineering teams.
