In terms of working with couples, Ms. Thorsten is a proponent of and trained in the evidence-based models researched and implemented by Dr. John and Julie Gottman, Dr. Sue Johnson (Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy), and Dr. Stan Tatkin. She also uses methods derived from Internal Family Systems (IFS) concepts, "Attachment Theory," psychobiological principles and practice, sex therapy training, and other therapeutic models. While these models for change can be very helpful, it is also important that both individuals in the couple want to make the relationship "work."  Laura can help guide the decision making process and plan from that point forward.
