Chad Fenwick

  • Director of Men's and Women 's Tennis
The University of Dubuque has announced the hiring of Chad Fenwick as Director of Men's and Women's Tennis. "I'm looking to create a culture of hard work with expectations on moving the Spartans toward the top of the American Rivers Conference," commented Fenwick. "UD has a lot of potential with facilities and ability to play and practice year-round. I'm going to spend a lot of time finding the right student-athletes to help us reach a level where we are competitive in every match. We have to build depth with 8-10 student-athletes who have high tennis skills while developing everyone on the women's and men's teams." Fenwick ('01) returns to his alma mater after leading the Loras College Duhawks tennis programs since 2015. Prior to Loras, he coached men's and women's tennis teams at Ashford University from 2010-2015 and at Upper Iowa University from 2006-2010. Fenwick previously led the Spartans from 2000-2002. He has led all of his previous teams to high academic standards and all-conference honors. "We are excited to welcome Coach Fenwick back to the UD campus," said Nelson Edmonds, Vice President of Student Engagement and Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Dubuque. As an alum, he is aware of our Mission and our commitment to student success. We look forward to assisting him in moving our tennis programs forward, and in forming and engaging our students to prepare them to live and model our Mission in their future endeavors." Fenwick earned Coach of the Year honors in 2015-16 in men's tennis at Loras College. During his tenure at Loras, he produced dozens of All-Conference performers combined with a multitude of academic honors each year for men and women in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, IIAC/A-R-C, and CoSIDA/CSC. On the women's side, he led the team to a conference runner-up finish in 2020. Fenwick led the #1 doubles team to the conference "A" flight champions in 2022. He led the Duhawks to qualify for the A-R-C team tournaments the past eight seasons. Fenwick claimed ITA Central Region Women's Tennis Coach of the Year honors at Ashford University. His team finished 15-2 in 2013-14 and was ranked #24 in the country. Ashford finished 132-41 in singles' matches and five members of the women's team finished with double-digit victories in singles play. In doubles play, the Saints compiled a 63-22 mark, with three members reaching double-digits in victories. At Upper Iowa University, he earned Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Coach of the Year honors in 2008. The Peacocks won their first conference title in school history in 2008. Fenwick is a native of Dixon, Ill., and lives in Dubuque with his wife Kristy (C'01).
