Brian is a Chartered Civil and Structural Engineer with over 50 years experience in the industry, having worked for 25 years in the offshore oil and gas sector and on a number of high profile projects in the UK and around the world. He has also worked in the UK construction sector for over 25 years and has been involved in various types of projects, including basements, bridges, commercial, industrial, infrastructure, refurbishments, residential, temporary works and underpinning.
His qualifications are Dip Eng, C Eng., FIStructE., MICE. Having previously held MIMarE while in the Oil and Gas sector.
This month's article is about Dublin's famous structural engineer Peter Rice. Irelands most well-known structural engineer, Peter was one of the most imaginative structural engineers of the 20th century.

Seán is the company's Managing Director holding the qualifications BEng (Hons) CEng MIStructE MIEI MIEAust. A Chartered Civil and Structural Engineer, he has significant experience in the industry having worked on a number of high profile projects in Australia, Ireland, the Middle East and UK.
While working in the private sector, Seán has amassed considerable experience, while playing a leading role delivering projects of significant value varying from bridges, commercial, education, healthcare, hotels, industrial, infrastructure, leisure, public works, rail, retail, residential and temporary works.
Seán is a chartered Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers, Engineers Ireland and Engineers Australia.
Shirley is currently a third year student majoring Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London. She joined the practice in 2021 summer as a structural engineer intern and currently working part time with us during her studies. Throughout Shirley's time with LSY, she has involved with different residential refurbishment projects and helped with financial management, marketing, tender applications, building company's infrastructures such as structural design library and BIM library. Shirley is passionate about her work and enjoys structural design and site survey. She is currently committed to complete her MEng and achieve MIStructE chartership in the coming years.
Tess joined the practice in 2022 summer as an intern engineer. She is a penultimate year student studying Civil and environmental Engineering at Imperial College London. So far, she has worked on various refurbishment projects ranging from steel, masonry and timber design checks as well as on-site surveys. She also involved in the business operations including marketing and accounting management. After she finishes her MEng degree, she is passionate to complete MIStructE chartership.
