Dr. Ekanayaje is a renowned professional in both the public and private sectors. He has held several high-ranking positions for over 40 years in his illustrious career. His work in the public sector included Senior Economist, Director of Planning, Director General, Chairman of many institutions and Chairman of the International Natural Rubber Council - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He served in the private sector, holding key positions including Director, Human Resources and Corporate Relations of Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd and has held many Board Positions, Chairmanships in a diverse range of businesses including the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. As a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Professional Managers, Dr. Ekanayke has a PhD in Economics [1986] from Australian National University where he researched "economics of human capital" under a Colombo Plan Scholarship. He has contributed immensely to many international journals and books on economics, agriculture, management and the environment.
