Mr Douglas Pegler

My name is Douglas Pegler. I work as a Principal Consultant Pressure at Bureau Veritas, where I review and certify pressure systems and their repairs and have been doing this job for the past 5 years. I joined the CGC/LGC in 2022, but was a governor at St Simon and St Jude Primary School since 2018, which I joined as a new governor and my role is as a general governor. I live in Loughborough and all of my children have now finished their education and all but one has left home to make their own way. My wife is a Class 3 teacher at the St Simon and St Jude Primary School. In my spare time I enjoy reading, television and assisting with the school activities and work preparation. I became a governor because I feel that I can support the school and give something back to the Educational system.

Mr Eric Fowler

Job Titles:
  • Vice Chair
My name is Eric Fowler. I work as a consultant in the energy industry having taken early-retirement from National Grid where I was a senior manager in the gas business for over 30 years. I became a governor for Higham primary school in 2016 and shortly afterwards was elected as chair of the committee. I am now the Vice Chair of the Cluster Governing Committee with formed in January 2022. I have oversight responsibilities for Finance, Health and Safety and community links. I live in Higham on the Hill and I am the Churchwarden for the parish church (which is just behind the school). In my spare time I am an athletics coach and I still try to enjoy running myself (although I'm a lot slower than I want to be). I became a governor because I believe that positive support for pupils and their parents can make a significant difference to the success of the children and also for their communities. I am keen to see that the distinctly Christian ethos of the schools continues to guide that support and allows all our pupils to reach their full potential.

Mr Matthew Coote

My name is Matt Coote. I joined the Board of Governors for St Simon and St Jude as a Parent Governor in 2018. I currently hold the role of Governor Advocate for SEND in the Cluster Governing Committee. I have two children with links to St Simon and St Jude, one a former pupil (who is autistic and now at secondary school), and one current pupil at the school. Professionally I have over 20 years of experience in the publishing industry, including time in both design and editorial roles. I currently work as a Technical Specialist for a company that provides a web-based platform for Estate Agents to create external advertising and internal stationery.

Mrs Karen Allen - Chairman

Job Titles:
  • Chairman
  • Chairman, CGC
I work as an Executive Headteacher. I joined the LGC at St Simon and St Jude CE Primary School in September 2016 and the CGC in January 2022. I am an experienced governor and work with a number of Governing Bodies including multi-academy trusts, a single academy trust, two maintained schools and a pupil referral unit. My role at CGC is Chair and Safeguarding and Finance Advocate. I was interim Headteacher at SSSJ from October 20515 until July 2016, and have continued as a Governor since then. In my spare time I enjoy walking, gardening and swimming. I became a Governor because as a Headteacher I have a great deal of experience working in education. I love using my skills and experiences to impact a wider range of children. I am extremely proud of the journey from RI to Good that we have been on at St Simon and St Jude and seeing the school thrive in my time as Governor there. I am excited to be the Chair of RISE's first CGC and getting to know Higham on the Hill.
