I am a registered social worker and have been a Kahui member of TWSWA since 2014 and have practiced within the social service sector for 15 plus years... In its International Policy on Indigenous Peoples, the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), supports the principles of the ‘United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples' by stating that "Indigenous social workers should take the lead in development initiatives and services for indigenous peoples"... Rangatiratanga has always been the aspiration of New Zealand's indigenous social workers.
